You could get away with a DSM BOV, they are 20-40$ and will hold 20#s I would spend the money on a Tial 44mm gate, its what, 170$ more than an ebay unit? If you dont have 170$ to throw away, you dont need to be putting a turbo on your car

I have 900 into mine so far but i only bought three parts K member, 6.0 heads and hot parts.

I figure
turbo 600
BOV/WG 400
Fuel 600
intercooler 200
coldside 200

I have tuning and valvetrain in there already. But i know you have to figure about 300 more for the little stuff.

I have been DIY on my rear turbo set up. The first turbo I bought was 1400, the PT76GTS that I have for sale. I did not buy a big enough turbo so I had to buy a GT-88. I am running a 408ci lsx instead of a 6.0L or smaller so the PT76GTS would not work right for me. I did not install it. Do your resurche before you by stuff!!! I am going to loose $400 on the turbo thanks to that.

I spent 180 on a front mount intercooler.
I have 500 dollars in mandrel bend pipe all over the garage.
I have yet to buy the hose conections, and v-band clamps I will need. They run from 50 to 100 dollars each.
My oil pump was 200 dollars.
New injectors will cost me 500
Fuel pump kit (dual intank) another $900 to finish(I will have 1500 in the fuel system alone not counting injectors!)
The first waistgate ost me 200 dollars (it is now for sale 40mm)
The one I am running for the t-88 is $550 (50mm)
You will have to tune the car. I already had the tuning software but the software cost me 650 when I bought it new.
I had to relocate my alternator.

Granted I am trying to build a 800+rwhp dd car, But I will have at least $4000 in it by the time I am done. Probly more then that. You can save alot of money if you hunt for your parts in the classified section on LS1Tech. I WOULD NOT chance my DIY Build using Ebay turbo's. Ebay Waistgates, BOV, or even the front mount kits I do not have a problem with. But the turbos themselfs I would not buy a Chinese E-bay turbo. Get with the guys at Forced Inductions (sponsor here) and they will help you select the correct turbo for your aplication.

If you need a 76mm turbo please keep my PT76GTS in mind.

I've got under $2600 in mine just for the turbo setup itself. Used MIG welded mild steel. I still need to purchase an air filter, some lines for oil feed and return. Should be about it. Will probably use header wrap in the near future so under $3000 easy.

6.0 manifolds- free from junk man
Precision 80mm turbo- $1000
Intercooler- $130
Synapse sychronic wastegate- $285
Vortech Mondo BOV- $250
Flanges, gaskets, spring clamps, bends, silicone parts- $700
Labor for welding- $200

are any of you familiar with the STS remote located turbo system, it about 4,000 for the kit and it is mounted in place of your muffler? I have seen it on a 99 ws6 and I know it is probably not ideal for anyone trying to max HP but it seemed to give the car a good kick and is pretty easy to put in. Any thoughts?

My thought is don't buy one from them. You can pick up a used kit much cheaper than that. If you wanted to spend that much you can get a real nice used front mount kit.

I see lots of good info from everyone.

I will say this, if you are on a severe budget and want to turbocharge anything, call me. I have a poor boy kit, LOL

MPT70 600
JGS WG & BOV 500
flanges, intercooler, oil lines, and piping 600

add one decent free welder then stir uncovered for 1 week
sprinkle tuning and fuel system as needed

serve hot at the drag strip
serves: who ever wants a piece

Yeah I remember the post about your research. Someone here on 'tech rec'ed that you go with a T4 Flanged T88 but you still bought a 76mm turbo

https://ls1tech.com/forums/7703914-post16.html

Even changing from a rear mount to a FM set up, the T4 flange on the 88mm would have still been a decent match for a 408ci FM application IMHO.

Yes, it is nice for what it is. I personaly wanted to do more then what the kit does for you. I do not like how the pipping is ran, it does not have an intercooler and a few things that I have on mine. They want way too much for what you get.

There are people that run in the single digit 1/4 mile ET's with rear mounts. Rear mounts are a good option for a DIY build. That is what I am doing at the moment. If I was starting now with my kit, I would start with the front mount exhaust kit sold on ebay for like 800 dollars.

Good memory, that was close to two years ago. I bought the one the sponsor suggested that would work rear mounted for my stock 346, and would (as they said) still work rear mounted (with a turbine housing change) with the 427LSX I was going to build. I never built the kit for the 346, I used the money to build the 408 I now have. Now two years latter they (Sponsor) say the PT76GTS is too small on the exhaust side for the 408 . So now I have upgraded to a T-6 GT-88. I have the PT76GTS (never used just looked at) up for sale. I keep wondering if the 88 is more turbo then I need for what I want to do. I am not trying to make a -10 sec. car. Oh well, I guess I will see what the heck happens.

I read the link and yes I did listen to you about the GTK, and stoped the order. I also contacted the people you mentioned and they set me up with the PT76GTS.

How much would it make on a 6.0 headed forged internal 346?

My PT76GTS would be a much better choice.

I didn't bother to read the three pages... figured I would just reply..

You said.. assuming you had the fuel covered... and the tuning... how much do all the parts cost for a DYI turbo basicly...

Well...

-MPT70 $600
-Wastegate $250
-BOV $50
-Truck mani's $??? I got tons of em laying around
-Hot side piping/flanges $200
-Cold side $180 (i spent)
-Intercooler $120
-Turbo oil supply/feed $100
-Ait filter $50
-Miss parts $200 (very high number, but should cover any surprises)

That pretty much covers it. $1750.

Now if you start doing things like vertical rad, pusher/aftermarket fans, etc... etc... There will be more cost obviously.

I would say its safe to call it $2k bare minimum
