f1r procharger questions?
There is a guy around my area that has a f1r for sale its coming off a c6 vette, he says all I need to get is a bracket for it to fit on my 02 ss. How true is this? I have a 226 cam and headers on my car other than that I'm pretty much stock, he wants 3500 by this weekend so what do you guys think, is it worth trying to make it work for my car? Is it even possible to make this kit work on my car? He said I should be ok with a big pulley and some methanol, I don't know much about these prochargers and their capabilities so please help me out and let me know what you guys would do...I know for what I have in my car most ppl shoot for the D1 but I figured I would ask before I blew off a deal

F1r is a bit much for an unforged stock motor, even with a big pulley on it. The right cam and good exhaust will relieve some pressure but still its a lil iffy. And for $3500 just a head unit and a used one thats a bit too much. for that much pass on it and give EPP a call and get yourself a brand new one with warranty. I got my F1a brand new for 2900, (new f1a 2900$ or a D1 for $2600>used $3500 F1r). Yes it would run with a big pulley and meth but you're on borrowed time, you should have that $$$ saved aside if/for when it goes boom!!.
Also how much you want to make?
> D1 should be good for 750 rwhp/F1a 900rwhp/F1r 1000rwhp

D1 is plenty, its good for 750rwhp, but if you live in densely populated place most people dont appreciate the f1a's symphony, dont get me wrong I get "your car sounds awesome" from some(selected people) but I still avoid pulling up next to the POlice and CHP at all costs. driving is quieter. Although some cops give me props on it I still try to avoid them. Sometimes i think i shouldve done a D1. I think a 347 w/ D1 @ 12lbs would be just as good as a 347 F1 with 9lbs for a street car.
Just my opinion...

Well here are a few clips of my black car the second one I was out of fuel @5k so I was short shifting for those runs and yeah 3500 is still too much for a kit you won't be able to use anything but the head unit from basicly. Epp quoted me 3195 for a new F1R a while back. That would be a great deal if you owned a C6 and could use everything etc... Good luck. The D1 is a better choice for smaller street motor that come into boost quicker and don't require as much HP to turn.

I agree, a D-1SC will work great for the horsepower you're looking to make. Check out my complete systems at this link. http://shop.brutespeed.com/ATI-1GJ20...F-Body-Kit.htm Bob
