Cool! Didn't want to read through the whole thread and it looked like it got closed but what turbo's ended up being used? I heard there was some discussion of getting bigger ones?

Going with the Turbonectics GT-K 650's 66mm. Looking for a quick early spool around 3000RPM.

very nice project and top notch work! although I would have gone with ALOT more turbo. quick early spool equals quick early choke on the top.

on a side note, that cam sounds good. care to share any generalizations about it??? 230's?, 240's?, 114?/115? just wondering how much cam it takes to make a 434 lope like that.

there are plenty of guys running 2 bigger A/R 35rs making insane numbers with great spool time on 402s and 408s, Just have to have an engine that can handle some boost. Too many people on here seem to over turbo there street cars.
On another note this build is one top notch setup, cant wait to see the numbers it makes and the curve it has once everything is matched correctly to each other.

early spool is way overrated. why would you want a 402/408/427/434 to spool by 3000??? all that is going to do is blow the tires off. been there, done that, got the t-shirt. instead of taking power out to get the car moving, I would rather tune the powerband with turbo size. in my opinion, turbos are like camshafts. it's always a trade off between low end and upper rpm power. the only way to have both is a variable ar system.

and as for too many here over turboing their street cars, that would be incorrect. most turbo compressor wheels are most efficient at about 60%-70% of their max flow. I crunch the air consumption numbers for the target power level of my street/strip builds and aim for the center island on the compressor map at 15psi to determine turbo size. for a 347 ci engine it worked out to be 61's. and for the 402 it worked out to be 74's. that may sound a little big by many people's standards, but I was NEVER down on power with big turbos. as a matter of fact, my next build will be very similar to the op's, but mine will wear tc78's.

still waiting to hear a little bit about that camshaft, Mr.427.

Your definitly right my little 348 blows the tires off at 3500 Rpm's in third gear on hot asphalt. Talking about any larger motor you would surely want delayed spool.

Believe me we did a lot of discussion about turbo size. Yes they will run out of juice at around 6500 RPM. We will play with this for awhile but it is really no issue to move to 72's or 76's if we decide later. I don't drive around 6500 rpms routinely but I do around 3000 rpm. I have a installed a RPM Stage V 3:15 rear for that very reason. Don't worry with 14 inch tires out back....IT WILL HOOK!

Going for a street tune on a mustang dyno this week end. About two weeks of street driving and then off to the dynojet for a final tune.

good luck with that. as a former 1000 hp c5 owner, I would have to see it hook to believe it.

now about those cam numbers........

I would like to point out this was a mild street tune in 92 degree weather on a mustang dyno at 18 pounds. This thing has a lot more in it!!!

I would also like to point out I was drunk and the camera adds 60 pounds!

awesome numbers. especially considering that you didn't spin the rpms through the roof and knowing how stingy mustang dynos are.
