BOV Placement?!

BOV Placement?!
So...I was always under the impression that the BOV would go on the intake piping near the throttle body.... however a buddy of mine pointed out that when you place it before the intercooler you potentially limit the ammount of heat soak that your intercooler gets....just curious what most guys are doing..

The majority seem to think that the bov needs to be as close to the throttle body as possible. I've also heard about placing them before the IC but I don't think I've ever seen a car set up that way. Never seen any evidence to back up either theory so I've just go with the majority on this one.

I spent Saturday at Gateway Intl. Raceway outside STL at the ADRL Drags, and spent some time at the Procharger tent talking with Shannon from Procharger... and he seemed to say that neither way is "wrong" but going before the IC would clearly drop the IC heat soak....
To me it seems indisputable that if you have it placed before the intercooler you are letting out heated air that is going to be wasted anyway, long before it can heat soak the intercooler....
Im amazed we dont see it done this way most of the time.... the only drawbacks I can see is that the reference line would be slightly longer...and possibly more heat overall on the BOV?

the farther the bov is placed from the throttle body, the longer it takes the pressure pulse to make it back to the bov- allowing it to be vented. then the turbo has to refill the cooler and pipe which equals lag

Which on an M6 might make some difference, but on an A4 where its staying on the floor that changes that whole thought...because you aren't coming out of it until the end of your run....at least I wont...if I lift...then the run is over anyway...

also on an auto, placement on the intercooler may be beneficial because the shifts are so fast that the pressure wouldnt have time to make it back to the bov, causing it to never vent. no vent, no lag.

I run mine before the intercooler and I know on some MAF cars that running it after the intercooler has caused idle issues and even stall problems when letting off from full load.

After hearing everyone's thoughts I think I am going before the IC on my application.... There seems to be more advantages to going before IMO
