I received a pretty good 4l80 from rossler for 4200. That included no core, which was 1000 of that 4200. So about 3200 if you dig up a core.

Ive bought a couple th400's from them as well, with trans brakes etc....and its ussually inthe 1650-1750 area depending on pan, options etc..

You know im a BIG fan of the PG....(I was 800lbs lighter then you i think) .... But for this.... id say a 4L80E if ya have BS3.. i dont remember if you do or not..

The TH400 and GV would be awsome and i know it can take the power... i know it eats alot of power also.....The 69 Camaro from Drag week ran that setup and ran 7's.... of course he was a BBC and a BIG Procharger....

When i build another 1000HP+ car again ill go with a 4L80E (you know im not joking) for a very fun street car.

Shoot David a PM (mightey Mouse) and see what he thinks.

I know your making quite a bit more TQ with the bigger cubes and twins...

I see it costing a LIL Bit...
Rossler 80E $5K
a GOOD Converter $800-$3K
Trans cooler with a Fan $225
Stock Shifter or AM Free to $250
Modify Drive shaft $150-$250
I know you can do the trans mount.
Shifter Cable $60
AN Hose or Metal hard lines (like you Love )
Stock A4 Console
Controler or Manually shift it..

no, they recommended I not use it , it would not help any of the failures I have had/have.

there is nothing special about that tranny, its the same as the Gforce internals, no warranty.

that is alot cheaper than I anticipated from Rossler. his website shows 3-3.5k for a top of the line 400. No prices listed for 80E, expect in the 5k range.

no BS3, stock computer here, so will stay MVB.
overall I think the 4L80E is what I want, Im just not sure it has the same track record as the 400 has... there is a local guy that has blown two Rossler 4l80E's and he is only right at 1k rwhp.

You'll also need a Lokar dipstick and a Speartech wiring harness (unless you want to wire it yourself), BMR crossmember + You'll need to transfer a truck trans. table to your PCM. My Rossler has been working great but I'm a few ponies shy of 1K.

LOL... thanks for the laugh, that is awesome.

yea the pricing make sense, and it is a more proven setup from what I can find.

I'm running a Rossler T400. I've had 3 differnt transmissions and 3 different torque converters and 3 different rear diffs in the car to find what I wanted. Heck, I can change a trans/TC and diff in my sleep now.....lol...

A good TC like NC does not need a lockup since the TC is going to be very tight for your +1000rwhp. I only dropped 100ish rpm at 65mph locked vs unlocked....not worth it...plus I had a manual switch and did not gain anything at the track.

I have a 3.00 rear gear, T400, tight converter, 4025lbs and it cruises fine. 4L80 would be better if you do a lot of 80mph cruising...around here anything over 65mph and you go to jail........runs 8's when pushed at 4000ft DA.

I would honestly look into something like a clutch style Jerico transmission. Their 5 speed would be nice for the mixed bag of what you are looking to do. They are small and would drop a decent amount of weight out of your car. Clutches should be considerably cheaper too.

I beleive that the 4L80E will also weigh less than the TH400 GVOD combo. I have also read that the GV OD is laggy in that it takes a sec to shift after you tell it to.
The 4l80e is still heavier. Tektrans has a thread in the drag racing section where he is installing a Th400 / GVOD unit into his car.

With a 99+ car you should be able to run a 80E on the stock computer, just modify the wireing harness and get a segment swap

I cannot wait till they make a 6l80e Controller and figure out how to get it to hold the Big power. Im sure a 6 speed auto Street car with 1000plus would be alot of fun both at the track and the street. I would go 4l80e with your setup since im sure you drive the car quite a bit. I be it will still be pretty fun with the MVB.

Roughly:

70 = 2600

80 = 2900

Not to hijack this thread, but how do you, or who can do, the necessary segment swap for the stock PCM code?

It is done with EFILive or HPTuners. HPTuners you have to send an email to support, and they will swap it for you. EFILive you can do it yourself.
