Default 1BAD_LS1.....Budget 5.3 Truck manifold Turbo

Well I finally got a chance to start on my new build....

I got the merge pipe done tonight, except for the wastegate waiting for it to come in! Took me about 4 hours though, lol. I made all the flanges and everything.... by far not the best merge pipe but it'll get the job done!!!

I will keep the thread updated on the the build as i make progress... its gonna be slow, the budget is kinda slim!

Here are pictures of the merge pipe and the 1999 5.3 pullout motor! ENJOY! PS the stock heads, intake, injectors, cam, pushrods, waterpump off the 5.3 is for sale!

dont buy the ebay fans. they wont keep it cool. i have the flex-a-lite 240 pusher fans and it does well. i got a "remanufactured" set off of ebay for cheap. try not to chinch out on the wg. get a good one like tial. i bought the "tial style flange" bov and it works just fine and i have no worries about it.

Hope that clears the radiator. To me it looks like you turbo will be sitting right up against it. Put a turbo blanket on your list.

I had those fans on my car and it wouldn't stay cool. You need to get some good fans

If you wanna keep your car cool on a budget you can cut your stock fans in half, trim them up and make them work. I tried those fans also, They will not work!

Check out the JGS mastegate and BOV's they are super affordable and great quality. I have the 40mm WG, it is the same flange style as the Tial 38 but out flows it. The Tial 38 has been known for boost creep at low boost. I also have the JGS 56 mm BOV it is great.
Try Modular Turbo a sponsor here for them. He will hook you up.

Got some work done to make some more clearance by moving the radiator foreward.

I went from approx 1/2 inch to approx 4 1/2 of clearance between turbo and radiator! I just trimmed the top brace and cut/bent the lower support moved the radiator ahead.

Now i just need to find a GOOD pusher fan on the CHEAP!

well the stock fans are about 5.5" wide and i only have 4.5" to play with....

maybee i can make more room I had to stop because of a storm that moved in, i am trying to keep it as budget as possible.

It would be nice to just reuse the fans.

i got some with the cell but none with the digital due to being in a hurrrybecause of the storm blowing in.... ill post them but quailty sucks...

Cut and bent the slanted lower suppot so it slanted the other direction.... still need to weld some more support on there though.

this is how the radiator sits as of now... and the hood does clear.

Here is a picture of the storm blowing in... had to pick everything up quick lol!!!
