It does pretty well for the combo, especially since everybody always repeats that a low compression motor is slow to come into boost or runs like garbage without boost. It's just an 8.5:1 compression 347 with a T76 .96 a/r.
Thanks, also what turbo do you have? I have a Garrett 76 with a .96 ar T-4 flanged, I cant get anyone to tell me Garretts model# for it, hoping you have the same and will know.

Also what does your setup ET and weigh? I plan on sticking with this turbo and stock cubes but wanna build the bottom with forged rods and pistons. Just wondering how fast I can get it.

I always thought that rear mounts were the only ones that would sound like that due to their location (so close to the tailpipe) dumped wg's into the down pipe should clean the hissing sound up and actually allow you to hear the turbos rather than the hissing from the wg's. Alot of the sound comes from the type of wheel you have in your turbo right? Doesn't the extended tip wheels tend to make that jet engine noise your talking about? I think someone like Jose or Dr. Turbo could have a pretty good handle on the "how to make your turbo kit sound like a jet engine" topic! lol Anyways that is how I percieved it.

It's a custom turbo, not a Garrett.

It went 9.47 @ 143.7 on 16 psi and it weighs around 3500 lbs raceweight. As soon as it cools down a bit out here I am going to turn it up a little bit more to see what it's really got in it. It's just hard out here since the car doesn't tech for what it runs and the track prep is hit or miss.... mostly miss.

Thanks, thats moving! My turbo came as part of a kit from HP Performance, I bought it from a friend and used it in my build. My friend says its a Garrett cartridge but HP's everything else, he called it a hybrid.

so on a twin frt mount should i run the open wg's? or will the wg have a hissing sound instead of a jet sound and take away from the sound of the turbos, exhaust sound and the bov?

I can pretty much tell you every front mount, rear mount, twin, single setup I have ever heard, once the dumpped or open WG comes open that is the only sound you hear, it pretty much drowns out everything else.

FWIW, when I had my WG plumbed back into the DP I still couldnt hear the turbo, every once in a while I might hear it. I have a 4" DP with a dynomax straight thru muffler and its dumped right under the drivers seat, I think if the exhaust dumped closer to the rear of the car I might have heard the turbo more.

That's what I was thinking about doing when I put my TT on. The only difference with what I would do is I would run it all the way out the back with some Corsa tips.

I wonder how that would sound.

I'm gonna do true duals (xr-1) to the back and keep my corsa tips. Also thought of doing dual electric cutouts on the dp's. Wastegates are going to be dumped back into the dp's. I like loud but I'm not into the hissing noise thing. I've found some clips with the tc series turbos with the f-1 wheels. I'll see if I can dig them up.

It's a turbonetics 78mm single setup with a kytp kit with open exhaust I think. It does sound like a jet engine though!

here is a video of my cobalt with open wg dump and recirc blow off valve. At first you can here the turbo spooling but once the car starts to sound like it's going crazy thats the open dump at work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtSryL_drxc
