Interesting build!!! Any luck on solving the shifting/tq management problem? Check out the link below.

The LS9 supercharger unit is a new design roots type with 4 lobes which makes it more efficient. Very interesting.

Maybe instead of a roots type, GM should have done a TwinScrew setup like the new 3.3L Whipple kit Dragon Pro Race Engineering has for LS1/LS6/LS2/LS3/LS7 that fits under the stock hood. Its a pretty revolutionary system for our cars.

Finally! After a long delay we are back on the car.

Time to get the exhaust system straightened out.

I decided the best all around way to go would be a custom 'Y' and a single exhaust system out the back. There's just no real good way to try and do true duals with the setup I have.

I went with a Flowmaster 3" to 4" Y:

Size: 151.1 KB

Name: MVC-583X.jpg
Views: 432
Size: 149.8 KB

Along with a Mufflex 4" system with Magnaflow muffler:

Size: 133.7 KB

Name: MVC-581X.jpg
Views: 431
Size: 150.2 KB

Since the pipes from the headers to the Flowmaster Y would be completely custom, I bought a variety of 3" 90's, 45's, and a piece of straight so that we could come up with whatever was needed to make a high flow Y.

Here's what we came up with for the car:

Size: 132.0 KB

And installed:

Size: 163.9 KB

Not too close to the trans pan:

Size: 64.8 KB

Withe Y finished and in place, I could then see what it would take to mate it to the rest of the Mufflex system. In this case I bought a 4" 45 and had it cut at just the right angle to mate up to the system:

Size: 148.0 KB

Thanks to Kurt from RPM Transmissions for all of the custom cutting and welding to make the Y assembly. Some people just have an eye to be able to look at all of the pieces of pipe and know where to cut them so that they mate up at the correct angles. Kurt can definitely do that!

The relocated O2 bung on the passenger side header:

Size: 141.1 KB

And the wideband O2 a little farther back:

Name: MVC-647F.jpg
Views: 458
Size: 65.7 KB

The Magnaflow muffler installed:

Name: MVC-639X.jpg
Views: 464
Size: 147.3 KB

The Mufflex system from the rear:

Name: MVC-634X.jpg
Views: 463
Size: 127.9 KB

The car actually has more ground clearance than with the old non-header system:

Size: 134.9 KB

The car should run much better now!

I took the car to Muncie Wednesday night to make a few passes with the new exhaust system.

It likes the new system!

Undoubtedly, I should have added the headers a long time ago, but it was kind of neat running 10's with stock manifolds.

The car went 10.22 @ 132. I made 4 passes, that was the best. The car felt good and consistent.

I'm 152.

The car is making about 9 - 9.5 pounds of boost.

NOW it's time for the smaller pulley!

Thanks a TON for those exhaust pics. I'll be going through the same efforts when I do the LS motor in my IROC.

Nice improvements, 10.7 to 10.22.
Hopefully that smaller pulley can shave at least .23 of your time.

I swear that looks like it would clear the cowl in a 4th gen. Looks like it puts down the power for sure too...

Glad to see the headers and exhaust worked out for you John, we use that set up on all the larger cube swaps we do here, here are some pics of the NEW 2in MONSTER PRIMARY headers and the 3in y pipe and 3.5 in exhaust we are doing now, wonder if we could get a tenth or so out of the 2in primaries . below are the pics let us know if anyone needs any help with the exhaust on there 3rd gen ls swap.
Thanks,Bruce

I almost had forgotten about this project.

Those headers and new exhaust most definetly worked well. How much smaller of a pulley is this new one psi wise?

The smaller pulley is rated at 3-4 psi increase, so I'm hoping for a realistic 2-3 psi gain.
