Default Cheap Heads for D1SC

I am running stock 241 heads right now Would it be worth it to buy a set of 317's, mill them a bit so my compression stays the same (9.5), have them ported and polished, and a 5-angle valve job....? Or should I just wait for more funds to get some AFR's ect....?

I have 317's and next time I buy a set of heads I'm going with AFR's. I havent had any problems with the 317's (great so far) it would just be nice to have the thicker decks and a better flowing head. How much $$$ are you looking at for the heads, machine work, stainless valves, springs/seats?

+1, I've had 317 heads with a valve job for over 6k miles and they've worked just fine for me. If I had the money, I would have definitely been nice to have a stronger and better quality set of heads.

I'd save your money and wait and get a set of AFR's, with your forged engine this would give you the option to really crank up the boost. Bob

Little D1 is basically maxed out already But I will save up for some nice heads...hopefully I will give you a call next summer. And I want to upgrade to a F1 haha

Oh, and I really appreciate you taking care of the motor Bob! It hasn't missed a beat and it has over 7k HARD miles. EPP's motors hold up great!

not to hijack your thread, but what kind of power are you making with your D1sc being "maxed out?"

I am running 7.25" crank and 3.4" Reichard blower pulley spinning to 6800 (also have sdce), so that is about 59k rpms.....pretty close to max and only see 15psi

I am looking for a 7.65" crank pulley to spin it a bit faster....11.0 @130 slipping clutch from 4k (on nittos). So the mph is there but I don't have it set up for the strip so I am having trouble getting off the line. Car also probably weighs 4000lbs
