Tapping oil pan

So I finally got my oil pan dropped and Im going to tap the front of the pan for my drain. It looks like most guys are tapping and threading the hole. Is it possible to just drill a hole, put the fitting in with a seal and nut also with a seal on the other side?

drill and tap the hole and use thread sealant on the fitting.

some guys return to a valve cover, or the oil fill tube.

You can drill a hole in the pan and use a bulkhead fitting - that works pretty well. Use a 10AN bulkhead with a nut on the back (inside the pan), and make sure to use a good sealant with it.

I used the bulkhead fitting as well, with a seal on each side. I can't weld aluminum,, and like to do everything myself
