can I drill the merge collector, or just run two wastegates?
guys, I need advice on this one.
this is what my merge collector looks like
is there enough meat here to drill a 1.5" hole for a wastegate pipe?
the alternative is to run a wastegate off each pipe. I have a tial 38mm and I can buy an ebay 38mm for around $60.
OR, can I run the wastegate off just one pipe???
what would you all suggest?

I would run just 1 WG at the merge. I would hate to run 1 tial WG and then an ebay one on the other side, I wouldnt feel comfortable with that. Dont run just 1 WG off 1 pipe, that will cause problems. Also why so much piping on the driver side pipe? What kind of manifolds did you use?

I needed ample clearance for everything. control arms, alt bracket, and Im running a thick taurus fan...no space to run it straight. had to go down then come back up.
how about drilling just one pipe, but at the merge. would that work??
oh, ls3 c6 manifolds

you want it at the merge ideally but many mustang kits mount the gate on one of the merge pipes with no issues but with that setup and a small gate you might have issues controlling high boost.

I wish I had done 2 gates. First I tried to get away with one 44mm Tial but it wasn't enough. Now I have a piece of **** eBay 60mm gate that I have already paid $140 (2 tial diaphragms) worth of replacement diaphragms. So now I got $300 into this POS that still leaks air and still need to buy a real single for another $500+. My advice is do it once and do it right so you dont end up with a $300 paper weight when all is said and done, like me.

Currently I can't get it down below 12 psi at full boost. No matter what spring I use. With the single Tial 44mm it was even higher. I'm not sure how high because it would just keep climbing and I would let off by 5K RPM and 15-17 psi in 2nd gear. I had a 7 psi spring in the tial and this one is supposed to be about the same. It's the lightest one that it comes with. I'm using an AMS500 boost controller with CO2 to increase the boost. I'm OK with it only going down to 12 psi. The problem is that it leaks the CO2 pressure so the boost fluctuates 2 psi or so throughout the course of the pass.
