JGS 50mm WG big enough for PT88+low boost?
I can get a really good deal on a JGS 50mm wastegate right now. My question is, is this wastegate big enough to get the boost down to around 6-8psi on my LS2/PT88?? I know Z28cobrakiller was having trouble getting down below 10psi with the tial 44. Im about to sell both of my 38mms for a single 50. What do you guys think?

The extra 6mm really makes that much of a difference? I just don't want to get rid of my twin 38s for a single unit if its not going to get the boost down there.

I got my HPtuners box back from getting repaired and was finally able to get some datalogs with the JGS 60mm gate. With the softest spring, I'm seeing 7 psi at WOT. I would think that the 50mm would likely be a little higher. First of all, what's a "really good deal"? Second, I think you're better off running 2 gates. The single gate in the merge is tricky if not impossible to mount on the optimum angle. Part of my boost control issues have been that my gate as at a less than desirable angle but I really dont have lots of options. I can tell you that this gate doesn't bleed off a drop of CO2. Boost control is pretty solid now.

Good point. I think positioning each wastegate right off each manifold would yield better results as far as getting boost low. I want to be able to get down to around 4psi.

first off, there are a few factors that also need to be taken into account.
How free flowing is your whole merge piping?
What size back housing?
What size down pipe and exhaust?
Vent to atmosphere or routed to the downpipe?
This answers will factor in to which size waste gate can you get away with. There is a such thing as too 'free flowing' on the turbine/downpipe when you are dealing with a wastegates. If you have a really big downpipe/huge back housing, you are going to have a hard time persuading the exhaust to exit out the wastegate.
You mentioned you had twin 38s right? Those should keep you well controlled for a while assuming they are vented.

IMO the .96 will be the choking point. A 1.10+ would broaden the TQ curve significantly.
The way to confirm this is after you tune it, if the TQ starts to taper off, then the back housing is too small.

So I never got a clear answer..will a JGS 50mm wg get me down to 8psi or so? I just dont want to spend all this money on it and have it not work. After trying today im just not going to be able to fit both waste gates. I have one brand new never used silver tial 38mm wg for sale for anyone looking.
