76GTS vs PT-88
IMO, check out the ST80. It has more efficient wheels in it than the T88 and is bigger than the T76, making it a better all-around turbo than either.

ForcedInductions.com got 99x rwhp out of a 355 LTx/T76GTS and T56, then pulled 150.x in the quarter. They reported the turbo was max'd out and peaked at ~24 psi then dropped a few psi from there. My own car backed up these results with a 146 mph pass at 3750 lb and only 17 psi.
We built a 377 SBC, carbureted with a T-76GTS and dyno'd on an engine dyno. It made 92x fwhp and 1080 ft-lb. The highest we ran the boost was 18 psi, while the turbo is good for 20+ on that engine.
There are a whole slew of Supra's making 1000 rwhp +/- using the T76GTS. Granted, the 76 is a little more at home on a 3.0 than a 5.7.
Wolverine on turbomustangs.com is claiming 1100 rwhp using a 42-76, which has the same wheels as the PT76GTS. Axeman on the same site made 840 rwhp with the 76GTS through an AOD. Brent Davis made 880 rwhp with a PT74.

The 76GTS is still on my old car but I sold the car. Street manners were great. I didn't spool on accident, but spooled up fast when you wanted it. I remember data logs showing less than 1 second to full boost. Keep in mind, though, that I was running 388 cid (which isn't even supposed to work with the 76GTS), so it spooled a tad quicker than 355 will.

Oh well looks like its the PT-88 for me.
