Default T56, Twins and gears.

Whats the general rule of thumb when selecting gears to go with turbos? The bulk of the build is in my signature, I DID want 4.11s but I thought about how fast I'd be rowwing thru the gears, and the lack of load. FWIW I'll be running MT ET STREETS 315/35/17 in the rear

I'd stick with 3.42's. They are the perfect combination of good low end power and excellent top end.

I have heard of turbo guys going with a lower numerical gear (higher mechanical). I believes this give the turbo time to build boost and keeps you in your power range longer. I believe a 4.11 would not be benficial for a turbo car. Also, you may be making an awful lot of power for a 4.11 gear. I bet you will be faster with a taller gear. I would listen to guys that have built turbo cars before first though.

I'm sure you'll find yourself shifting quick enough with a stock 3.42 gear let alone a 4.11 gear on a turbo app! You need a taller gear to help aid traction at the very least. 4.11's and a boatload of torque (typical turbo torque) = a ton of tire spin.

I run a 3.42 and it seems pretty good. I might put in a numerically lower gear in the future but for now its perfect.
