Default convertor ?s on turbo setup

I just got another turbo for my car wanted something a little bigger than
the T-70 for the project
my question is are there any automatic turbo cars out there running a big convertor?
I have a TP4000 in my car and am wondering how it would do under boost
or is it going to be too much convertor?
on the gas it is banging the rev limiter all the time, will it do the same under boost?
I am only going to run 7-8 psi on the stock motor and step up when I get the 6.0 heads and cometics

If you're already stalling it to the limiter on the hose, you're gonna do the same under boost.

Asuming it's a 4000 stall for an average NA setup, you'll blow right through it. Stall speed increases with the sqrt of torque input, if that gives you any idea.

Just what is an ideal converter for a boost that will come on at about 3k?

I've been looking into converter selection, and it really will depend on how torquey your turbo setup is. That converter might flash a lot higher than 4000 once your car is all setup but it's hard to say. The problem with too much stall is that you can end up too high in your powerband and it's a waste of power.

I've got a Coan 10" rated at 3000 in mine. Should be enough to cut some good times, but not annihilate the tires on the line.

I think as a general guide you would want a converter that flashes to around peak torque or LOWER. I've kicked converter size around with folks for a several years, and I find that the top converter manufacturer and also drag racers suggest converters that are rated to flash around peak torque or up to 1000 rpms below that. Results will vary between a 9 inch and a 10" inch converter as well. A 9 inch converter is more of a race converter, it will be looser, and it will have less reciprocating mass. It will also have better shift extension. Also the bigger the converter the harder it can hit off the line but that can be at the expense of top end mph.

In my case I have a planned shift point of around 7000 so I want around a 4500 stall to try.

Im useing a 9" Pro Yank 3800, With the single turbo installed on the stock motor now It feels fine. It doest 60' all that well with only a 1.73 on a 3.23 gear. But it does spin on ET streets a lil. Its very streetable on a stock motor and feels great behind boost. I had the same converter Behind my 404 motor and It was not loose enough it also needed a gear bad.
