Default Clarity on 2-bars and 3-bars

I did a search on 2-bar map sensors on this sub forum. Unfortunately every single one that came up was a discussion of different types and models and what not. (causing my little brain to overheat)

I already have a 3-bar (from what Slowhawk said) sitting in my garage. I am doing a front mounted ST-80 on a stock block until i work out all the kinks on the FM setup and then upgrading to a 370 LQ9 - Can i just get it tuned on the 3bar? Or should I really be using a 2-bar? If a 2-bar is preferred in this setup, what is the darn model?! I keep seeing different codes n what not.

Thanks!

You basically want a 2-bar for 15psi boost and less. Use the 3-bar for 16-29psi.

Yea that's what ive seen being said.

But can I used the 3-bar to start with for about 10lbs until I get everything worked out? (Rather not waste any more cash than necessary lol)
I am just trying to understand why it'd be so bad to use a 3-bar with less boost lol.

I'd dd 10psi and then up it when racing, etc.

That's interesting, I didn't think there was an issue.

Yes. You just lose resolution on the fueling MAP at 10psi. It can be done.

Right now I am on a stock MAP sensor (1-bar) at 10psi and people said that wasnt optimal. It has been working just fine so far. So I am guessing 3-bar is also workable, just needs a solid tune lol

You can do it, but in many cases you risk going lean in denser air. The PCM is not aware of the amount of boost it is seeing and no longer corrects for it. The other way is to lose resolution even more. It may work, but is not a great idea imo.

Thanks for the info dude - do you have a recommendation of which 2-bar to get? I saw something about Delphi Cobalt sensors n stuff. Nothing plain and simple to pick up

I would also recommend just using the 3 bar for now since you already have it. How many cars are out there that run high boost at the track, but lower it down on the street while still using a 3 bar map sensor?
