Default domed pistons for future S/C power adder

I've used the search button and i'm finding nothing about domed pistons and it effects with supercharged apps...i plan on getting a 383 stroker kit and plan to supercharge in the future...i was told to go with domed pistons if i do that but i don't know why...hence the search...i found a lot about flat tops pistons and it benifits with high compression and nitrous apps, but would it be possible to run flat tops with a supercharger and if not what type of piston and why....thnks

Anytime you run forced induction, you want to be running a lower compression ratio. Being that the pistons play a big part of your running compression ratio, a piston that provides a lower comp ratio will be better for a FI setup.

You want to change the search word to "dished pistons" and look at stuff that shows up in the FI section. The more psi you run on pump gas, the lower the compression has to be unless you are making an all out drag car.

You might be able to run a flat top with a large chamber head depending on how much boost you plan to run. You are better of running a dish piston to lower the compression. A dome pistons will raise compression which is good for a NA or nitrous motor but not for forced induction.

TSP what size chamber would you recommend to lower compression?? i know the S/C will be put on hold for a little while in the mean time i'd like to make well over 400hp in the mean time.

you can run a flat top piston with forced induction. as long as compression not much over 10.5.1 and u dont run over 10lbs boost you should be able to do it on pump gas

Run a flat top now with a 64cc head to geat maximum N/A performance. Set your target comp at arouns 10.1-1. Then you can run a 72cc head and drop the comp to around 9.6-1 with a thicker head gasket.

Also could search for 'inverted dome' pistons. If you look at the JE piston site you will see there are some differences. Each has their place, with application and combustion chamber style helping determine what's right for you.

Thats sounds like good idea and in the mean time i could drive it around and still gett on it...is there a formula for figuring out compression ratio by chance??

what if i ran -7cc pistons with a 383 stroker it...will that change compression ratio higher or lower or is it based off of combustion chambers?

Its based off both. -7cc would be lower. What CC head as well?
