you'll be rebuilding at regular intervals at this power level...I don't care what you put in there

i say you buy a couple new rods, pistons, crank, and block and keep it LS for next year. 2-3k vs 20-25k and you can save your pennys for the next engine.

1200hp is that rwhp on the dyno or an approximation?

Never did really get this set up dialed in. IMO the 370ci was just to small for the 106MM.

Best was a 1.45 60'; 9.19 at 157mph. Very very lazy 5.90 1/8th at 125.

Oh well up and newer next. Very possible going to be going with a BBC (550ci).

David
What failed, did a rod break and window the block?

AES - more of an approximation - we did 1090rwhp with 18lbs of boost on the dyno; when the engine let loose we were at 22lbs - so appoximately 1200+rwhp.

Phil - still not sure what really let loose. I've torn the top of the engine off (intake, heads, etc), but have not pulled the block out yet. We figure that the crank broke, but not sure. #3 and #4 pistons are both damaged. I know that at least one of the rods broke - I have found some rod parts (well actually chunks).

We are staying LSX. The big block's cost was just to much (min $18-20K). We are going to rebuild the short block. Looking at doing the LSx block, Diam pistons, Lunati Pro Stock rods, Callies Dragonslayer crank. Still not sure if we'll be going bigger than 427ci. The heads need to be reworked a little (not much more than cosmetic damage - I hope). Would love to fix my present AFR 225's, sell them, and than go bigger, BUT budget doesn't look very good right now. Everything else looked good when I tore it apart.

Looking for a new cam. Present Cam: 246/240 634/613 114. Any suggestions on a cam would be appreciated.

With my rear-end and brand new tranny, the drive train looks rock-solid. Now just to get the engine to cooperate.

Oh, yea, we are going to be going with a new engine management system (and its not AEM or BS).

David

PS - thanks Drew for all your support - and buying my parts

Oh yea - just got a new tow vehicle 2011 GMC Diesel. What a great truck. When the turbo kicks in, this truck flat *** flies.
