Default fast 102

Hi I just purchased a aps twin Turbo kit for my stock ls2 c6. I also have a fast 102 and Nick Williams throttle body lying around. My question is would I see any power increase or should I sell it and use the money else where. Thanks

Have you ever seen or owned a FAST 102 that cracked under boost? I bet you have not as fast has tested them to 60psi. The old FAST manifolds had problems but nobody as of yet has had a 102 crack. Lets stick to the facts and not trash a great manifold.

And to the OP if you have to offload the 102 PM me. I plan to run one on my ERL LS2 with close to 30lbs boost. Should be a good test!

Facts?
I have seen a lot of guys with boost crack them
that is enough facts for me. Plus in a boosted application it isn't worth the high price tag. Get a single plane if you want somethiing different then an ls6 manifold

Is the op willing to gamble with that kind of money?

Absolutely correct. If you want a factory style intake, a LS6 is more than good enough.

At the old shop we swapped out an LS2 intake for a FAST 92 and lost 2 psi of boost, but went up in horsepower, from 809 to 864 rwhp. Here is a link to the car. http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...Car.php?car=29 Bob

So you have seen all these fast 102 intakes break huh? I have heard of none just the old ones. The ls6 is prone to break at high boost as well. People love it cause its 1/4 the price of the fast. The old intakes did as I mentioned crack quite often

So how much would I gain on a stock ls2 with a aps kit with the 102 setup vs keeping the ls2 TB and manifold.

Just to clarify, we are talking about the FAST LSXR 102 not the 92. I think you are confused. But if not I would love to see pics of some cracked 102's that you claim to be seeing. Again these are tested to 60psi so a low 20psi bump isnt going to do **** to the manifold. Now a backfire or improper install you bet.

Cracked intakes are normally from improper installation (torquing of manifold)
never seen a 102 crack and if it did I'm sure it was due to some other malfunction such as stated above or backfire, impeller deciding to take a ride through the airflow highway , etc....

intake will work fine. IMO

Just throwing this out there, but the old ones were tested to high PSI as well. The issue isn't just pressure, its also heat. Have I seen a 102 crack? no. Have I seen 90s and 92s crack? Yes. I am witholding judgement on the 102 until more and more people have run them to see if they crack or not. Am I going to gamble a grand to find out? Nope, thats why I run a vic. jr.

I would stick w/ an ls6 intake, reason being that the ls2 intake is made out of a different material I believe,
but biggest reason that if you look into the intake ports of the intake you will see where the intake is sectioned together.
In that area it is not fused together/glued etc... I'd be worried about that cracking/coming apart under high psi.

yes ls2 has 90mm opening, if you need that, run a l76/l92/ls3 style intake than.
you can pickup a take off unit from SLP for like $275.00

Ok now we are on the same page. Until we see a 102 crack it is too soon to pass judgement. That is all i'm saying. As far as the design goes the 102 is quite a bit different than the 90/92 as the 102's runners can be removed to be ported and such. I mean the in perfect world I would run a Wilson intake but i am not an M.D. so I can merely dream about how nice it would be to have a $3,000 intake. lol.

I would run a ls3 manifold but then ill have to run ls3/l92 heads so that wouldn't save me any money.

Running fast 90 but so far haven't turned up the boost from 7.5psi with standard aps turbos the lg are not installed yet. Should be installing them soon and will be taking boost up see how the 90 does.
Few things might be reasons for cracking. One you have to use proper valley bolts. Some guys just throw on used intake without the proper lower profile bolts.
also its inch pounds some guys torque **** out of these intakes.
I also tapped and screwed fitting where old map went the 90s had terrible map retention setup. And put rtv between shells. I can see an backfire in the intake cracking it maybe.
I have burst valves in mine and have also heard of them blowing prematurely. I am not sure if plan to run burst when go to a 102 but yeah unless see bunch of actual video evidence of cracked up 102s being going to one of these next season most likely.
