Awesome truck man! Just curious how much timing you are commanding on pump gas. Thats a lot of boost!

It seems like my limit is 13psi @ 17* until I start to see some KR. Thats with good IATs ~ 70*

we are running 16deg on 19lbs makes the best mph. no knock because of methanol.

before, we could run 16deg, no meth, then we hit 3rd gear and it would start talking, so we had to run 10deg on 19lbs.

so we ended up taking the turbo off and checking it out because it was smoking...

turns out some of that damaged motor did hit the turbo

so we bought a GT45 from VSracing and threw that on, didnt even change the tune, it was a little leaner, like 12.0 AFR with the zr1 cam swap, with this turbo it went down to an 11.2-11.4 average, so no need for tuning...

trying drag radials this year.

took her out today with the GT45 and ZR1 cam, filled up on wawa catpiss 92,
drove an hour to the track, went 11.03. 11.03. 11.02

Denmah, just out of curiosity, I want to know if I am understanding you correctly.

You have been able to run 20+ PSI on a stock long block...?

I am asking because I have watched your youtube videos and I am amazed
by what you have accomplished, but I am aiming for a more mild combo.

Any pitfalls you can help me avoid...?

I am not looking to build a track car, more of a fast street terror.

yeah we have run 23lbs through it before it was blowing out spark 25gap on the TR6s

but yeah it is a 90k junkyard motor with stock head gaskets and ARP bolts in it
my friend beats the living **** out of this thing, alot of people say that, but he literally will start it in the 38deg weather and as soon as it fires brake stand it into a 3rd gear burnout down the road.

it is running methanol but we were running 19lbs with less timing before the meth, it is really a cheap insurance policy and lets us make some more power safely.

honestly if you are building a car i would buy this 300 dollar gt45 turbo and that 120 ish dollar 60mm wastegate, there is no benefit to buying anything nicer if 650rwhp is your goal. mild cam and the pac 1218 or 1518 springs for only 130 dollars shipped

the stock 2010 4.8 had 8500 miles on it till the nut took out the piston, and that was abused just as bad with no ARP bolts.

the car doesnt use oil, oil doesnt even push out of the valve covers, not even a little.

4.8s are the unsung hero of the lsx world lol

yeah 92 wawa catpiss

for around 4500 miles with no methanol with 10deg up top, would knock on 15 deg in 3rd gear because its a fridge, now we run meth and 16deg and there isnt a speck of knock

we did 11.20 on with no methanol
and as high as 12.20 with methanol, but it didnt pickup power, so its back to an 11.20 - 11.50 average right now with 19 and methanol

its 70% meth mix.
