QMP Turbo Formula - 750rwhp / 830rwtq STOCK ENGINE
Well, we may now be able to put a few theories to rest. Since so many of you want to see the Formula run with the stock engine, I decided to strap it down to the dyno tonight and go for broke.
This time however, I filled the tank with Turbo Blue 104 octane race gas. Kept the alcohol injection in place, and added a lb of boost (now set at 12lbs). After adding a bit of fuel to the programming as a precaution, we made the first pull through the full dynomax exhaust. I was stoked! It made 633rwhp/767rwtq! You can barely even hear the car running through this exhaust!!!
So next, we opened up the QTP electric cut-out. It then made 691rwhp/787rwtq with an AF maxing out at 12.5:1. (yes, lean but we had to start somewhere)
So we added more fuel to the tuning and reset the dyno: This time when it reached full boost, it spun the tires on the dyno and still made 713rwhp/831rwtq w/AF peaking at 12.1:1! Un-friggin-believeable! With a completely stock 124,000 mile engine! Through our standard, un-modified turbo kit!
I decided to give it one more go....this time with an extra lb of boost. So we moved the car back on the dyno a bit at DynoJet's suggestion to try and keep the tires planted (just plain BFG radials). Well, I was still getting used to calculating the electronic boost controller correctly, and apparently I was off. Boost went to 14.5lbs, it literally smoked the tires from 3800-5000, and put down 749rwhp!!!! If the tires had held, it would have made right at 800rwhp based on the missing area in the graph.
After a couple more failed attempts at getting the tires to stick, we gave up and called it a night. Next time, we'll have slicks on it.
I plan to post the graphs later tonight if I have time. FWIW, this thing made peak HP at 4500rpm's and stayed nearly flat all the way to 6200 where it was STILL making 660rwhp! Talk about a HP curve! And at 6000, TQ was still at nearly 600 ft lbs of torque! It's literally INSANE on the street.
As a recap: Still the stock engine, stock fuel rails, stock fuel lines, single Racetronix in-tank pump, standard QMP Turbo kit with standard intercooler, standard log manifold, crossover, wastegate, un-ported factory '02 passenger side manifold, etc, etc. All we have done is upgraded to the T76 Q trim with .96 AR housing, and spent a lot of time tuning it (112 dyno pulls now to be exact).
So, what's the record for highest HP stock engine?

I think maybe it would. But who knows. Just for safety, I plan to add more fuel to the tuning and a Racetronix doublepumper first. At the track I'll run straight C16. Hopefully it'll make at least ONE good pass....

WHOA!
So given enough octane and fuel I wonder what the limits of stock engine are? I'm sure at these levels it won't last long but, even a few pulls are impressive.
Damn..... :shaking head:

seems kinda pointless to be messing with this damn ATI kit of mine lol. Keep it together for the shootout. I really want to see that seasoned 125 thousand mile block make a run or two or three.... Great work Rob

yaaaayyyyyy.....finally we get to see what a REAL t-76 (and Robs kit) can do!!!!!!!!!
Is this still on the stock rear? People get amazed by that but on street tires it will NEVER get traction and the stock rear can last longer than on a stock car. Rob I think after all you have endured that you are entitled to gloat some and officially tell the naysayers about your kit to SUCK IT!!!!
