Im having my SPEC stage 3 put in right now and the guy told me it only last 6000 miles and i was wondering what kind of clutch you guys are running on your forced induction cars? do you drive them daily? How many miles has it last you so far?

I am using a Spec Stage 5. I only have about 200 miles on it but it drives great and is good for 800hp. It's actually much more streetable then I had imagined. I think we are going with a built auto now so I may want to sell it...

Mcleod Single Duisk Kevlar right now. So far no troubles. Once I start using slciks i have a feeling a twin disk will be required.

I just got the new spec stg3 X-pad. So far so good bites real hard and gets tiring driving in traffic everyday because it`s about imposible to engage smoothly. Who ever said this clutch drives like stock Has somthing wrong with there stock clutch. I know about 5-6 local ls1 people that have the spec 3 or 4 and have put over 10000mi on them still running strong.

My spec stage III only lasted 7 months. It was junk from the get-go. Right now I'm running the Centerforce DF. It's taken everything I've thrown at it and still feels like stock.

Mcleod Street twin. I have had it for like 20,000 miles and about 7,000 with the turbo. Still strong and no signs of slipping at all.

I've used many SPEC 3's and am very happy with them.
Kevlar, Ceramic.

I found the Ceramic a bit grabby and chirpy, but never slipped.
Am switching to a 2/3 Kevlar Hybrid for smooth engagement and streetability.

Mcleod street twin! I've been running it for about 6 months, and it's a work of art. It takes an insane amount of power, but the pedal feel is nice and its not like a lot of other heavy duty clutches that are an ON/OFF switch. It gets my vote 100%!

Im with MM, i got a st 3 in 2000 befor my turbos, then the bolts backed out. fix that and the clutch was the ***** till i blew the rear, then i put another st 3 in and it was installed wrong. blew that one. then put one in myself it lasted till i did my turbo kit, then I had speed inc install my st 3 thats in their now. it has about 10,000 on it, and is great, no slip nothin. its seen over 500 rwhp and god knows how many power shifts in the 10k its been there.
By the way, spec customer service threw all that i listed was better then outstanding!!
And like MM said this year im upgradeing to the new x pad on a st 4 or 5.
Im very happy with them and recomend them strongly.
Good luck

I was told by matt at TTP when i bought my clutch that the stg4 was a unsprung stg3. both hold the same amount of power but the stg3 is more streetable. i was going to get the stg4 but because I drive in stop and go traffic everyday I went for the sprung disk with the X-pad. Is this true, Do they both hold the same hp? if so why use the unsprung disk, I`ve driven a 67firebird with a unsprung disk and it was not very fun in traffic.

My Spec 3 has lasted me about 18,000 miles so far. I have had no problems with it. It is a very strong clutch as well! It may be time for a new one this summer maybe...

I used to have a Sped Stage 3 Carbon/Carbon and it only lasted 1K miles and then blew apart forcing me to buy another master slave clyinder. SPEC were nice and replaced it on the warranty and the other one lasted 1K miles and it lost pressure to the point that it didnt even shift anymore(Another Master Slave Clyinder). Also SPEC used to shatter alot saking the whole car. So i went with the Mcleod Kevlar/Organic with the adjustable master slave clyinder and soo far 3K miles of hard driving with no problems and No Shatter. The only tricky part with the Mcleod is to adjust the slave right and apply lock tite on it so it wont change after time. The only down side about the Mcleod is that it doesnt like to be slipped of the line. It will slip a little bit and needs to be cooled down. On the other hand, the SPEC dont slip at all when u slip it off the line, but when the clutch starts slipping that means u will need another clutch and there is no coming back. Believe me go with the Mcleod and u will save alot of money.
