Default ported exhaust manifolds

Would there be any benefit to porting the truck manifolds on a turbo build? I dont have any complaints about my stock ones right now but was wondering if it would have more of an effect when the power level goes up.

I come from the buick world lol and i know alot of people port the manifolds for stock appearing builds and it nets them some good power.

Well we have ran ported manifolds on several different cars, Just no proof of gains. But a piece of mind.

I wouldnt imagine you would get any gain, as long as you leave the exhaust ports on the head alone atleast.

Extrude honing them would do the most gain...get to places you cant get to with a bit.

I was about half done porting mine, when someone commented on the pics I posted elsewhere. They wanted me to bolt the virgin manifold to a bare but ported head to check for mis-match.
It turns out that truck manifolds don't NEED any grinding for #241 or #706 heads, but polishing should help. With #317, 243 or 799 heads, I can't say, because I had already sold my #317 heads.
now, even with a 6" arbor, you can't get the tootsie rolls to very much of the manifolds, so if you want good polishing, it's Extrude Hone.

It is my understanding that the Ohio boys have been over 200 mph with unported but port matched exh manifolds. That's good enough for me to not waste the time.

I would make sure they aren't smaller than the exhaust port on the head and leave them at that.

I think extrude honing would be flushing money down the toilet. The internal casting of the manifolds is very nice, smoothing it out and increasing the ID slightly would do absolutely nothing.
