Here is how we did ours
At first we only had the one on the left being fed from the top to act as an over flow only. Problem with that was the water never went back into the radiator. So then we picked up a non vented catch can (well it said it was non vented, but it had a hole in it). We then ran the line from the radiator to the bottom of that can, then from the top of it over to the top of the other one. That way the radiator will fill the first catch can when hot, and will pull it back in when it cools. Then if the car gets to hot, or pushes water, it will overflow the first tank into the second one. Hopefully 2 quarts of overflow is enough to keep the track dry, but if not its all behind the tires. Also they both have drains on the bottom that poke through the floor so that we can empty them. The one from the radiator wont need to be emptied very often so we have the hose on it going through the valve. When you need to empty it you close the valve, pull off the hose, and then open it up.
It may be a lil complicated, or overkill, or whatever but it seems to be working so far!

You can mount it where ever you have the room.
Hose length plays no part in it.
The hose should never see any psi of any kind.
The tank has to be vented, if not just plug the nipple
at the radiator and cross your fingers.
