PM 1hotls1. He just did one behind a 427lsx. He can tell you what all he needed to do.

I say just do it one time.

PM Mightymouse and get his tranny guy and converter. It'll be expensive...but you'll only do it once.

I'm kind of bummed about the T56 hate Do T56s really suck that bad when you start making power? Even with a very good rebuild? I was always under the impression that T56s were stout transmissions.

Do not build a 4l60, they will brake even if its a "level 5" trans. One of our friends has already broke 3 built 4l60's.

Get a 4l80e , they are heavy duty and will hold all the power, they are A4 , so they are good for the street and highway. Its very easy to put it onto your car. As far as your PCM goes, you can use a your current pcm, and whoever is doing your tuning, tell them to do the 4l80e Transmission segment swap onto your tune and do a full flash back into it. If they have EFI Live then its very easy..

Then just get a Yoke, which is like 75 bucks locally. And a flex plate . Then just wire two wires onto the PCM, its easy, just search on the forums or on performancetrucks.net website.

No, what I'm saying is the stock PCM CAN do it......TCI box isn't required (and BTW there are other cheaper trans control boxes out there than TCI).

ya i meant to put 4l80e.... the only other thing would be the pcm i'll have to look into that more as far as the swap. someelse said 4l80e and a transgo kit. how well will that old the power at that level?

I've been lurking the FI section for awhile now but I feel you. I just thought the weak link in the T56s were the hydraulics and/or not being able to keep clutches in the car. I didn't realize that even heavily built T56s were breaking all of the time.

After writing that, i went to my GTO forum and found that the 04' goat computer can do the trick, its the 05-06' guys that cant do it.

I also have to notch my trans tunnel to make a 4l80 work in my car, new DS, flex plate, and a new shifter, ( i think i read that we cant use our stocker)

stupid GTOs, lol.

thanks for the help on this, sounds like me and the OP are learning alot, lol

everyone here hates on t56's

personally, im not looking for a hp goal, im looking for solid 9's, based on where im at now it should be obtainable, but well see

getting it to hook can be interesting

that being said, i know my car would be slightly faster and more consistent with an auto than it is now, but the trans hasnt broken and i considered clutches wear items

I was a die hard M6 guy. Than i had to brake down and go auto for those that did not see the post here you go. going to a auto is by far the best thing for a turbo. the auto is way more fun to me than the M6 could ever be. 4L80 is KING

This man speaks the truth!

As long as your converter is well matched to your combo you can't go wrong.

I guess it comes down to personal preference. Personally, I dont care if my car would lose 1.3 seconds in the 1/4 if I switched to auto, I LOVE to row my own gears. And I wont be trading it for auto anytime soon. My DD Z28 is auto, and granted its stock, but its is one of the most uneventful, boring cars I have ever driven in my life. lmao

Get a 4l80e or a Rossler TH400. I'm boosting my car, but I think I'm gonna keep the 6spd for a while for ***** and giggles... Maybe get an antilag to keep it from falling off in between shifts. I gotta research that idea some more.
