Default F2 procharged 408

Ok so heres the deal, Im new to the boost game and have a couple of question.

I was org. building this motor for my car, but ended up sticking it in our sand drag jeep instead and put a LS3 in my car. The LS3 made good power in the car (463 to the wheels) and it does not even have 1500 miles on it and I need more power.

So my plans are to pull the LS3 and set the 408 back in the car, and add some boost to it with a F2 pro-charger.

Orginally when I built the 408 I was planning on dumping a bunch of nitrous to it so built it up with some pretty health parts.

The bottom end is as follows:

Dragon Slayer Crank and Rods, Diamond Inbord Fordged race pistons with 20cc dish, Total Seal rings with steel top gapped for a 200 shot of nitrous.
I used the GM LQ4 head gasket so a thickness of .054 I believe, and AFR 225's w/ 66cc chambers. The heads and mains are studed as well.

So with doing the math I figure my compression ratio is around 9.67 : 1

Im only using the F2 set up because my friend is selling it to help pay for his new dirt rail car, I know the F2 is pretty good size blower and a little over kill for what I want but the price is right so thats what Im getting.

The car is still going to be street driven like a summer time toy that comes out on the weekends to cause trouble.

I would like to be around 750-800 to the wheels which the F2 is more then capible of, but with my compression ratio at (9.67 : 1) is that safe to run 10-12psi on safely? As well as running on 93oct pump gas?

That is an option I have thought of as well to help out with the pump gas, but don't know if I will really need it. On my friends TA with the F2 it made a little over 1K to the wheels I don't believe he had meth on it then. But it might of been on race gas through as we run C16 in the race cars.
I would have to ask him as it has been at least 2 years since the TA has seen any action, it wiped out a ring landing and has been pushed into the conner ever since.

Your compression ratio is right in line with where I would prefer to have it at. Your biggest problem is going to be belt slippage, as the F-2 requires a lot of horsepower to turn it. The Aster bracket http://shop.brutespeed.com/Aster-Aut...er-Bracket.htm hasn't been tried with an F-2 that I know of, but it should work for low amount of boost you're looking for. Bob

The F2 is way overkill for what you're going for and what your engine can handle. With supercharging and turbos alike; bigger is not always better.

Yes it could go with a cog kit. We offered a cog kit at Exotic Performance Plus (now closed) that included bracket stiffners, we had one on my Z28. I don't know of anyone that is currently offering a cog kit for these cars.

No doubt, as an F-1A can generate over 900 rwhp and require far less horsepower and zero radiator mods to get it to fit. Bob

The F2 is a nice blower but wayy overkill for your setup. I don't even know if it will make a good midrange power with a peak boost of only 12psi.We ussually push them to 25-30psi.

I would sell the F2 and buy a F1,either a F1A or F1D.

Another guy chiming in about the F2 being too large. My suggestion was also going to be to sell it and buy an F-1A and pocket the rest. At the power you're looking for with that blower, the boost will be so low and that blower will just be plain old inefficient. It'll also be deafening loud, I've known F2 Prochargers to legitimately temporarily hurt some people's hearing (An old 3rd gen TA had one at a meet and my friend said he and others had the same experience as blasting loud music into your ears with headphones for too long)

Man your gonna need like a 12" blower pulley to get 750-800 out of it. LOL

Im sure somebody would ****** this blower up at the right price and then you can just get a F1C or A.

That is another thought that has crossed my mind.
Like I said before the only reason why Im getting a F2 was just because that is what he is selling and it will help him out with his new race car and I would have a good blower to start with, Im sure I will grow into it I have no doubt about that.

I know with a F1A we made 860 somthing to the wheels to another friends Cobra, which is more in the ball park of what I want at the moment.

Im not sure what drive system he is using on it, but I remeber it made 1000+ back in the day. I its been like two years ago but I was thinking he was have a belt slippage issue at around 20psi.

I just need to take some time and go over to his place and see what all he has.

That's pretty high compression with an F series blower. I'd try to drop it about a point, but that's just me

I just did one, 408, 10.5 compression, ls3 heads and intake, small cam 1 3/4 headers, mufflex 4'' to 3dual exhaust, 160lb inj on e85. 15 degress of timing, 13lbs of boost f1c threwa rpm stage 5 4l60 and a strange 60 rear end. It made 704 @ 6000rpms till it ripped the blower brackets off the motor

Then i designed new ones

The compression is fine, run low boost and it will make big power. Run a 2 stage snow kit with just -20 windhield washerfluid to kill the inlet temps or put it on e85

I stand by what I said, I'd prefer to not dick around with it and make sure I have it in the range that is safest
