Default help with picking a turbo for my Z06

Ok I have a hinson single kit on my car, T4 with a 3" down right now. Currently the motor is pretty much stock, minus a chain and oil pump, etc. I'm running Hinson's A2W intercooler that Brian said was pretty much limited to 750hp. I have a precision GTS76 that has a F'd up turbine wheel and needs a rebuild. After talking to precision, it looks like its gonna be about as much to buy a new turbo as it will be to have that one fixed. So I'm trying to decide what to buy. I have just about everything to build a iron 408 minus a stroker crank, so i'm trying to decide if I should go with another 76 and keep my 3" down or should I do something like a PT88 and run a 4" down pipe to a reducer to my 3". My thinking right now is I would like to try for 750hp to max the intercooler but I know how that goes and I could always bump up the intercooler later with something better for more power. I plan on keeping the M6, and its a mostly street car.

If you end up going with the 408 I wouldnt consider anything under the 88 but I would keep an eye on backpressure with those cubes. The pt88 is a great turbo for its size but if I could do it all over again I would have went straight to a big t6 turbo. If at all possible I wouldnt step down your down pipe either because its going to rob power.

thats the issure we're running into, with the 3" dp on the car now you can barely fit a finger between the pipe and the valve cover.

My biggest concern is lag from the 88 with a T56, and fitting the 4" Vband

If you want the most responsive turbo (least lag) you need to pick the smallest turbo (turbine wheel) that will meet your goals. The PT76GTS or a custom T4 BW with 80mm ET-R wheel and 83-87 mm turbine would be my top two choices. Your current turbo will get you there. The custom ET-R will smoke it in max power potential though.

Thanks for posting that pic, I don't think its gonna fit. I'll go ahead to try to bolt it on this week but its looking way to big!

I'll have to check with FI about that ET-R. Looks to me like whats gonna kill me is that 3" V band, I think if its any bigger I'm gonna be hitting the hood, or I could just cut it!

well I got a pretty good deal on a ball bearing turbonetics T76 brand new in the box. I think that will work really well for awhile. I may have to make some changes when I do the other motor but for now i'm happy with this.

I'm very sure you can't fit PT88 but give a call or PM to ForcedInduction.com
I Remember they told they can fit HP78 or something which is good for 900rwhp
