this^^. should be about 4psi. some guys with high vac will actually have the gate open at idle. i hear high boost players will use spring weight to control respool.

A tial 50mm will be fine.

What kind of timing are you running on the 5.3 under full boost?

I have a stock 5.3, ls6 cam, springs, mp70 turbo and am running about 16 degrees of timing when under boost, 93 pump gas and ~9psi boost. Just wondering if you guys are running more timing, am I being too conservative? sorry about hyjacking thread

16*, do you have meth? If not, I'd say your playing with fire. What power are you hitting with that combo?

Thank you, what spring do you have?...... Why am I soon confussed, I see all these different Tial 50mm with different spring rates on fleebay. I plan to run no boost controller so I need to have the proper "relief" in both the WG and the BOV.

I dont know what spring I have as I bought it used. it is closed at idle and opens when I let off the gas so I havent investigated further. ie, it works as is.

the boost controller has no effect on your BOV. all your BOV does is open when the throttle blades close so that pressurized air doesnt rush back at the throttle blades and cause damage. some auto cars dont even have them.

so, measure the amount of vacuum youe engine produces at idle and use the spring tial recommends

use this as a guideline ^^. i hate to say the bov is less important than the waste gate but it is. wg controls overall boost ,bov controls residual pressure when the throttle is shut. if you look at a diagram of a bov the top of the diaphram is seeing what ever pressure the intake is seeing, positive or negative. so in boost the pressure on the top of the diaphram and the pressure in the charge tube create a zero sum where only spring pressure is in play. if the blade is shut then the diaphram see's vacuum and the charge pipe see's pressure creating an offset. if the offset is more than the spring pressure then, pssst. using different springs allows you to adjust how much boost you "leave" in the charge tube. drag cars don't tend to close the throttle much but road racers do so the same level of boost may need a different amount of control. my 20psi gn doesn't even have a bov.
