Is there any sort of warranty? I know it is iffy when someone else finishes the job, but I am curious.

Question

The more I look at this thread the better it looks.

Forged crankshaft is available, however you might as well get a 390 if you want a forged crankshaft my .02

It would be a custom piston to use a larger stroke in 5.3, cost would get out of control.

$2375 if you supply block/crank

price doesn't include any tax

We warranty 90 days on the workmanship and yes you explained it, I don't have control over many variables, basically if you get the motor and say your not happy with something, we can work it out.

Have you Sonic tested the cylinder walls on the 5.3 iron block and compared it to the 6.0? I was going to have it done a while back just never actually did.

Checked 5.3 block at factory bore size I get .215-.220" 360º on the bore (3.780" bore size)

6.0 block I normally see .220" on thrust down to .175" at 3 O'clock on the bore location wise (when bored to 4.030")

With those numbers the 5.3 block can be punched out to 3.905 without any problems. There is a guy on TurboForums with a turbo Nova that did it and made over 1k to the tires with a 5.3 block/All pro heads and Arp standard sized studs(Bottom end/ Heads). Condsidering people throw those blocks away around here I am suprised more people haven't thrown these together more often. Thanks for the valuable Info!

If you own a machine shop it might be worth it... but for most people the cost of boring it and stuff you'd be right at the cost of a 6.0 which is bigger. I was just looking into this also. from a 5.3 to a 5.7 it is 21ci ? not worth all the machine work, and if you're going through that much to gain cubes....get a 6.0

Thats not why someone would use a 5.3, how many 4inch bore motors you see out there making 1200rwhp without o-rings/1/2 inch studs? There is alot of meat on the deck of the 5.3, that and the fact its iron combined with an aftermarket deck head worked well.

That 3.83 bore 5.3L sounds like an awesome engine to build for FI.

Wonder what it would do with a pair of GT-35's ot Precision TA-5557's?
