This is a very old thread. Look somewhere else for a shirt block. AES is garbage. I would use H squared motors in Houston.

These guys stole a motor from me. Its a long story filled with them giving me a quote then not sticking to it... I had my attorney get involved and then they were nice and made promises. Then when it came time to fulfill those promises they kept saying they couldn't find my information and didn't know where my complete motor was... Crooks.

AES had some problems when Mike G worked there, he's been gone over 2 years. They've turned a corner and Doug is now the manager for Tony. I'll be using them at some point when I do a forged bottom end in the '67.

I got raped by them a few years ago on a 427 LSX turbo motor when Brian was there lying for them....I paid for a new LSX block but the water ports were very rusty in it, and it just looked like an old used block, and when I tore it down to rebuild it (before i ever ran it, because of all of the aluminum chips sitting on top of the valves and the pistons...) there was another persons name written on the block.

My AES 390ci was sent to a local builder. My local builder went through it and confirmed every part to be brand new and exactly what I ordered. Checked everything. Only reason I bought it from AES was they gave me a lower than advertised price over-all because I provided the 3.825" Callies forged crank, direct drop-shipped from Callies. So I saved about $800.00 over all. Plus, my local builder was swamped and I would have had to wait a month or two. This AES engine was ready to put my crank in it, assemble the rest and ship it THAT WEEK that I first called them.
I specifically told them the engine is to be shipped THAT WEEK....PERIOD. Also, I refused to pay for it all (50% deposit only) until it was ready to ship. If it did not ship that week, my bank reverses the charges, no questions asked.

It shipped.

I don't know how so many people get screwed by shops.....if a shop took my deposit and did not ship out my engine within 2 weeks....charges are reversed, end of story. I WILL NEVER be in a position where 100% of my money cannot come right back to me. Why the hell do people agree to wait 2,3,4,5 months for an engine. It takes 2 days to assemble an engine if the parts are in stock.

Don't give a shop the first deposit on a build until they email you to confirm all parts are there. Then they simply have 1-2 weeks to ship it. You can still check it when it arrives......and you can still reverse all charges and get 100% of your money back if anything is not correct.

If its not what you ordered or anything at all is not right. Reverse charges, leave the engine sitting outside and tell the shop where they can come to pick it up.

Strange.

If anyone wants to resolve any past issues with AES, please PM me and I will help figure something out.

I have a set of heads going over there to get zero decked for project ls turbo. This will be the first time I personally will have used them.

Lol @ AES. I got screwed out of around 3k with them. Haven't even pulled down or used the 12k engine I bought 4 years ago through Mike. Not really looking forward to it either especially as it was shipped o/s with nothing plugged in the engine and sawdust everywhere.

They shot themselves in the foot.

Word got around quickly. When you provide a shitty service, and screw your customers over, it came back to them as it should. I feel they got off pretty easy (only losing future business). Wish it would have hit a lot harder than that.

They shot many customers, some worse than others.

They may have been...may even be a good machine shop, but their ability to do the work stated, charge correct money, supply parts ordered/paid for and in a sensible time period....they just failed at all of those.
