Adjustable boost supercharger
This is just a theory. I have not tested this just trying to think outside the box.
Lets say you take a centrifugal SC and you mounted a converter clutch Or cvt unit to the SC and the crank. Now I know that you would normally have 1 billion ratios and you would never be able to control boost.
However what if you made a (lets call it a jack shaft) that came from either side of the clutch that would control how far out the centrifugal force could compress the springs in the clutch to change the pulley ratio.
Now if that (lets call it a jackshaft) was controlled by a servo you could have 2 or even multiple levels of boost control.
Im either a genius or an idiot. Most likely the second one. Love to hear your argument either way.

I saw some guys like that option, and it will work. How ever in theory this would allow you to actually control the amount of boost instead of bleeding it off with a wast gate like you would on a turbo or the centri SC you suggest.

Wastegate is a proven methood, or you can run an adjustable valve pre compressor like so:

Thats why I asked. I have read that some guys run restrictor plates. I guess my brain is just having a hard you understanding that you could choke down a compressor and not build up enough heat to damage it.

Belt slippage would be a concern. However with the way the converter clutch belt is designed it is like an upside down trapazoid. Depending on how large you make the pulley you could have a lot of surface area. You could even run multiple pulleys next to each other for more surface area. Sorry im an optimist.

Couldn't you use a wastegate after the supercharger to work like a blow off valve and a way to adjust your boost? I was looking at this one http://www.turbosmartonline.com/index.php?id=51

So you could, say, pully yourself up for 12psi, but have a wastegate setup to blowoff anything over 8psi? In doing so you would come into that 8psi at lower rpm, and maintain it all way up in rpms and not exceed 8psi?

Thinking about this and what aproaches could be taken to limit boost with an FI setup. With these electronic throttle bodies, could you not rig them to 'limit' boost in the intake manifold? This should work briliantly on PD blowers. Turbo and Centri cars would put the turbos/SC under a little more stress but nothing too bad i would have thought. Having said that if the boost got too much over manifold presure then the BOV would blow open anyway.
Just a thought that sounds MUCH simplier than clutches and CVT tranmissions.
