Default open letter to Spohn about your solid motor mounts

the letters R and L are both in the alphabet. R meaning Right and L meaning Left. problem is, from the front of the car L is the passenger side and from the back of the car is the driver side.

I learned this my first year in auto tech. Passenger Side and Driver Side, very simple. I think nothing less of your product but you cannot give me back the last several hours worth of spitting, cussing, and headache associated with figuring out the R goes on the Passenger side and the L goes on the Driver side.

Come on guys, you're world class, WTF!? Spohn is one of the best, i expect this reputation to hold up in every way. DS and PS next time yes? thanks.....

EDIT. 2 things, 1st this comes off sounding more mad than i really am and 2nd, drunk posting FML

Most car people know thay the drivers side is L and the passenger side is R. It's the point of view from sitting in the drivers seat. I know GM marks a lot of the parts on their cars & trucks the same way. Most afctermarket companies do the same thing, and I'm afraid you're not going to change the world. Just my opinion...

I understand your position fully, Spohn's too, but not all are that way and we all know it. a different pair of letters clarify's the whole thing real quick instead of us figuring it our for our selves. when you installed yours did you guess or get lucky?

I've been a mechanic for a few years so maybe its just easier for me, but left is ALWAYS driver side and right is ALWAYS passenger side. And if its not done that way than the company is clueless, but I dont see any reason to try and change spohns designation system.

Ive never heard anyone call the pass side "left"

Do you honestly call a right rear tire, the drivers rear?

Thats what I always thought as well...the view from the driver's seat...L is drivers side R is passengers side...you've got to picture yourself in it...as well as in the medical field...patients view not yours...there left not yours...

what a dumb post.

are you going to put the motor mounts into your car, standing infront of it? No. You aren't.

you are going to put them on from the oil pan forward. So there for, anyone that knows their left from right could tell you SPOHN was correct.

I did the same **** as he did and I was doing my motor mounts in front of the motor. I laughed about my stupidity and went about my life though.

If you could not tell that L is DS and R is passenger then that is your fault for being ignorant.

No problem with Spohn's lettering. Period. L&R....The big 3 marked their parts this way for decades.

Not to mention the mounts will only fit the k member one way, the bolt holes are different on each side. Right?

yep. my car has no front end and no transmission so the mounts are going in however its convenient, mainly from the front.

correct. i started typing why its such a pain but realized that will be pages long, its just a bitch.

the letters arent stamped on the part, they are written with a silver sharpie, writing a different letter and adding one doesn't sound like a lot to ask lol.
This is in the wrong section (lol i think back as to why and come up with nothing), by 8 this morning i was pretty toasted and a little upset, installing these things is a huge PITA.

Maybe it is just me, but when i first started in Auto Tech in 10th grade the first thing Mr. Chadwick taught us was DS and PS, followed with an F or R if need be. anytime something got labeled L or R he busted our asses, so i guess it just sunk in

the real problem lies somewhere between the seat and the steering wheel.

This doesn't relate too the first post but my solid spohn mounts did not set my motor level. I called them and they denied and said they couldn't help me. If you look up the problem online there had been a bunch of people with this issue. I no longer buy from them as a result, in this economy your stupid to buy from a company that doesn't stand behind there product.
