Default Cheapest combo for 900-1000rwhp...

Looking for the cheapest 900-1000rwhp combo...

Starting with a clean slate...Looking for the best bang for the buck..

Block, ci. turbo, heads, cam etc...

Figuring a 6.0 block...but what ci. 370, 408 etc. Which turbo...Again figuring the best cost vs price...How about heads...? What kind of boost...?

What would you build for the lowest cost engine for getting that hp level that would last...?

Lets hear what you would build...

Search that, you'll see a bunch of threads on this. Most people are just gonna tell you its gonna cost $25,000-$30,000 and that usually ends the discussion because of sticker shock.

Best bet IMO opinion is to go with a kit from Josh @ KYTP. 91mm turbo. 408ci. LSX iron block, 6 bolt heads, 4L80E tranny, Strange 12 bolt rear-end. Its all the miscellaneous **** that adds up......

AES forged 370 for around $3,000 and a forcedinductions GT-88 with t6 flange for around $1200. Tfs 220 as cast heads around $1400-1700. LS6 intake or vic jr with a 23x duration cam on a 115 or 116 lsa on a 110 or 111 icl. That would be a good start.

3. stick or auto?
4. 900 to 1000 at the wheels/propeller, or at the flywheel?

You want the cheapest way to get to 1000hp? Buy forzamotorsport 3 and you can mod as much as you want and all it will cost you is $50 to buy the game.

hahaha... Or GT5 on Ps3..

Really, I am tryin to hit about that same mark, this is what I am putting together:

370ci lq4
AFR 235s
Vic Jr/ elbow/ 90mm tb
91.5mm Thumper turbo
c16
A2W setup, alot like Mighty Mouse.
twin aeromotive 340 intake pumps. 83lbs semiens injectors to start with, I plan to move up to a set from FIC later on. pretty sure the Injs will max out before I hit my goals..

I personally like the stock stroke with something like this.. call me crazy, but I think displacement is great, but you only need so much when you can force feed air like this..

There are plenty of other people who have done around what your looking for, and kept the cost "reasonable"

Welcome to the money pit!!

Im gonna have to agree with Bob on this, Assuming that the car is actually in good condition and assuming that any part of the drivetrain isnt going break within the first year/season you own it.

I'm about 30 to 33k in the hole now. Could have been done a bit cheaper. However I expect to reach this goal next month.

370 lq9, tfs 225, fm pt88, custom cam. Th400, steel shaft, 12 bolt, full spohn suspension, hp tuners, eboost 2, wideband, 2 step.

If I were to do it over I wouldn't have started lol. I'm gonna have more in this then my Viper.

There is no such thing as cheap. There is, however, being smart about things. Lay out a plan with somebody that's done it before and stick to it. Buy stuff once, not two or three times. The single hardest thing to do is spend the money on the supporting stuff first. Rearend, tranny, suspsension. That stuff really doesn't make you faster, so it's hard to swallow at first. Better to do it and not break stuff once the power is on tap though. I've learned the hard way.

turbonator!!!! Thats your best option. You have to measure on a butt dyno though as the numbers just don't show on a regular dyno, but they are there. I swear it!

1) Drag...Some play time on the street.
2) Pump on the street...Race at the track.
3) Auto TH400
4) Like my post said...900-1000 RWHP (rear wheel horsepower)

I would agree...But not a lot of pre-built cars in my neck of the woods...Fairbanks Alaska...

Besides I already have a ride...91 notchback stang...

This is not my first rodeo...(it will be my fist turbo build though)

I have my own ideas on what I want to build but thought it would be interesting to see what others would build with a clean slate and a real persons budget...

(I see a lot of people building something because they already have it, block, heads ect. and build around that)

I have always been more a function over form type of person and would rather have something that is cheaper and works than something that is the latest bling along with the price tag that goes with it.

Cheapest does not have to mean cheap...Just looking for what is the best bang for the buck...Like 6.0 block instead of LSX...stock 6.0 crank vs stroker crank...etc.

(AES forged 370 for around $3,000 and a forcedinductions GT-88 with t6 flange for around $1200. Tfs 220 as cast heads around $1400-1700. LS6 intake or vic jr with a 23x duration cam on a 115 or 116 lsa on a 110 or 111 icl. That would be a good start)

(370 lq9, tfs 225, fm pt88, custom cam)

These post are what I was hoping to see...

I always like to see how others would build something as I almost always learn something new...The old "more than one way to skin a cat" routine...

Thanks for everybodys input...

Anybody else have a favorite build to reach this goal...?
