Default Oil cooler for a Procharger?

Has anyone run a oil cooler for their Procharger? Just wondering if it would help keep the headunit temps down a little. The Rotex superchargers (smaller versions of the Procharger) have to run one.

Just a thought.

Chris.

Sounds like a huge hassle since most prochargers are self contained. You would need lines and a pump. Not worth it at all. unless you are talking about a non Self contained head unit

I understand it would be alot of work, but as people are now pushing these units harder and harder there iwll be anadverse affect on reliability of the headunit. I guess its a bit like a gearbox/diff. If you keep the oil inside it nice and cool you would be suprised how much abuse they can take.

On the other hand im not 100% sure on how the oiling works inside the Prochargers.

anyone have any ideas on what the oil temp is inside a headunit that has been pushed pretty hard?

The Corvette here ran for several years with a D-1SC on the 346 built engine at 16 psi on a road course. We don't know what the head unit temp's were, but we never had any problems with the head unit. We eventually built an LS2 engine for the car and swapped to an F-1C head unit. This was all done back at the old EPP shop. Based on how well the above combination did with these head units, I'd say their oiling temps are not a problem. Bob

As if a stock ZO6 Corvette wasn’t already the ultimate track car, Tom Snitzer enlisted long-time ProCharger dealer Bob Beam to build an even more wicked track animal. Snitzer’s C5 ZO6 now takes to the track with a built 402-cid LS2 equipped with an intercooled ProCharger F-1C supercharger set up. On the dyno, this car has laid down 804 rwhp and 728 ft.-lbs. of torque. On the track, it simply lays down rear tire tracks from the exit of every turn.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you find yourself spinning the head unit so much as to need an oil cooler, wouldn't that be an indication to step up to a larger unit? From a P1 to a D1, then to an F1 etc etc.

I'd say that is a good way to look at it. Bob
