My concern with sd is I drive all over Texas every week and other states every couple of months so elevation and weather changes would probably cause problems.

That's the beauty of Speed Density. It adjusts for temperature and baro pressure changes. That's the "Density" part of Speed Density.

I guess that's where my lack of knowledge comes in I thought that the maf would be better for fine tuning in those situations.

The SD ECM checks barometric pressure using the MAP sensor before starting and IAT real-time. That's how it compensates. Supercharged and turbocharged PWC's are speed density with no MAF or O2 sensors for feedback.

I live in Alaska, where the temperature can fluctuate 30-40 degrees a day in the summer. No issues with using SD here :p

They say MAF tuning is easier than SD but IMHO it's the other way around. When I was talking to you the other night, SD tune can be very good, you have got to put some time into it. Lots of regular driving around and gathering data to fill your cells up.

Mmmmm We are biased aren't we? Well I can tell you this, you most likely will have to go SD for that much boost, unless you can scale the crap out of your tune and/or have a 1024 G/sec limit on a 15,000 Hz scale in your ECM 08+ E38's/67's. MAF in my opinion however is the mark of a capable tuner.

The problem most people have with MAF is that they max out in the 400-500 gm/s range, which isn't enough for most boosted applications. You can throw full throttle fuel into it, but then you're running blind and changes in conditions will affect the A/F ratio. However, if you figure out a way to extend the range of the MAF significantly, there's no reason it shouldn't work.

I ran my car for years with the MAF maxing out around 4500 RPM's at 650 rwhp. I used that PE vs RPM table to add fuel after it maxed. I kept reading on here how I was flying blind but I never had a problem or saw any great variance with the air/fuel.
