The little 76GTS that could, a new best!
Well I finally got the car back out again and got a new best today at Speedworld. I lined up with Bill from AZ's fastest street cars in the final and it was a damn close race. I went 9.17 @ 151.7 mph to his 9.18 ET. He sixty footed the hell out of me as I just couldn't get it to hook but I was able to reel him in on the big end with turbo power. Normally I can leave around 3400 rpm and stick it but today I had to turn it down to 2900 to leave and not spin. The best 60' I had previously was a 1.40 and this one was a 1.49 so if I could have at least matched my previous 60' or a little bit better it's looking like a 9.00 type run, maybe even that elusive 8.99 but I doubt it. This 76GTS is pretty much tapped out and I could really use a bigger turbo but with the car not teching for what it runs I really should just leave it alone and put gas in it and keep driving it but I just want more.

I would love to run it on a sticky track but that just doesn't exist out here in AZ with the exception of when NHRA comes to town and if you get lucky enough to race on the track during their testing. Otherwise normal prep is pretty poor around here.
