Think I hurt a bearing again
I was trying to get ready for the track today to try out all my new toys since my last bearing incident and noticed about 10 psi oil pressure drop after a 15 psi pull. It's not making any noises but once it gets hot, I only have 20 psi @ idle. I haven't even drained the oil yet but it's exactly the same thing that happened last time and #3 main bearing was torn up (hadn't spun yet). At that time, I pulled the crank and found that it was bent .006 so I got another stock crank that was balanced and straight, replaced the bearings (including rod bearings because I was in there) and put it back together. I did not have the block checked as the bearing hand't even spun. Perhaps the line bore is fucked up.
I really just wanted to get some base line numbers with all the new stuff before changing out to the new bigger exhaust housing.
1) Holley Dominator EFI
2) Fixed a hotside leak
3) Powerglide transmission
4) Travel limiters
5) Rear suspension out of a bind
I guess that's not going to happen as the turbo kit will be getting modified to accept the bigger back housing if the motor has to come out.

Go into the bathroom stall, drop two hell Marys and apologize to the racing gods for your misbehavior. After that, get that car squared away...fixed for another outing. Until then, I will keep my fingers crossed for you and sorry to hear about this man.

feel your pain man, i had a spun bearing also. Kurt Urban fixed it, wasnt cheap cause i added more ****, then This Year i went and had my th400 looked at which was never ran, had it built by a local shop that was told did good work, but they recently changed names etc, so i was a little fishy on that and wanted it looked at, Well yaaaaa i paid 1300 bucks for a peace of **** stock rebuild no name ****, they installed the WRONG VALVE BODY,resurfaced old parts to look new. So i just had to fork out another 1,500 for another rebuild!!!

Los, is this the first you've run the motor since the rebuild? Did you check clearances on the main and rod bearings? If so, what were they? Just wondering if maybe it's built with a little bit too loose of clearances causing the lower oil pressure than what your used too considering you put a new crank in there. It's very possible that is just where the oil pressure will go to once the vehicle is warmed up if the clearances are loose. I'd hate to see you tear a motor down that's not hurt when you could just run a little thicker oil and still enjoy the car, as long as they're not too loose to do damage (within spec).
