the car only has a single disc converter in so locking it up would most likely hurt it.

WOW I have a 70,xxx mile 5.3 w/z06 cam and springs, stock truck intake and tB. Also have MP t76, TiAl 38mm WG, 60mm JGS BOV on shelf waiting for more time and colder weather. I would like to know if anyone has seen significant gains from swapping intakes. I wish that Guys (or bitches) like SATAN who have not 1 single bit of 5.3 or any v8 experience would mind their own business and keep the **** sucking pie holes shut! The hole point of anyone using a 5.3 is they are super cheap, I paid $1000 for my 5.3/4l60 with everything air box to drive shaft and exhaust. Someone always has to clutter up a good thread with BS theory please BAN these A-HOLES! If you want to learn about LSX v8's read, if you want to share your infinite wisdom on JAP 4 and 6 cylinders do it on www.ricer.com I'm sure they would love to hear all about nause!

Friend of mine here that tuned my car has a 95 Silverado, 5.3, small cam, turbo ( 76mm I think ) Anyways, it made 868 / 930 trq on 19 lbs and all it has is the small cam, ls9 head gaskets and arp head bolts. Ran a 10.3 at 133 if I remember right. Flat out gets it

This is going to sound like a dumb question, but seeing that you turbo guys are running 12-14,15lbs of boost on pretty much stock motors, would it be safe to run that much boost on a D1SC Procharger? They only things I was thinking of doing to my lm7 was a blower cam and rod bolts for now, along with all the proper fuel upgrades. Other than that, the motor would be stock.

Mine made 588 to the wheels on our first dyno session but we only have E70 right now and I am using my 5k ATI convertor from my big block. It blew through the convertor bad. The tuner said with just a convertor swap like a PTC for a turbo that I probably am closer to 635 and when we tune it on the E85 we might get around 650. My goal was a lot more than that but that is at 15psi. I was planning to go to 19lbs once I feel the tune is right. It is all stock except what you see in my signature. From the research that I did on here and yellowbullet it seems that the "trend" is after about 20lbs on a stock 5.3 that is the point where people started to have problems with blown ring lands and or bent rods. At least in the ones that seemed to be tuned pretty decent. Would you guys agree that 20lbs seems to be about the max on a stock bottom with head studs, LS9 gaskets, and ARP rod bolts with a pretty solid tune? I am running E85 so I am not even sure that I could push it a little more or not.

I think that you can push past the 19 my car made 740 at 20 lbs but I was running really low timing on 9 (intake temp were very high 285) non-intercooled on e85

The car never ran any good number cause I could not get it to run to the 330 I went 149mph at 3350

I am putting a smaller exhaust housing on the big turbo and will be putting a 76mm on for a local real street class

your car is bad ***

Please check inbox ^^^^^ I read this whole thread thinking you would chime back in and disapointed you never had it fully finished in the rx7. Then I get to the last post.

That is pretty cool. How long has the engine lasted though? I don't mind pushing it to the limits but my limit would be if I could get 1 full season and then every winter change the engine out. **** I can get them complete and running for $583. By the time you sale the wiring harness, starter, alternator, water pump, etc.. you can actually make some money. lol I have heard that low timing was the key and running it slightly fat.

I am actually more interested in the fairmont. I bet a lot of people are because it weighs so much more and is daily driven. If you don't mind giving out this information what would say is the max I should boost mine to but I need it to last the full season. You can see in my signature what I have and I am willing to ad water/meth injection if my IAT's get too hot. Right now I have it tuned at 14 degrees at full boost and a AFR of 10.5 on gas scale. I have NGK -9 in there now but tomorrow I am going to put the NGK -7 in and see if I can add a couple more degrees of timing and keep the AFR the same. I only have E70 right now and will retune prior to hitting the track when the E85 comes out. Any suggestions would be great. However, I can't do like you and swap engines every few months. lol I have 7 kids. Ouch!

Hey people.....?

Interested in procharged 5.3s... Reliably hold 550-600Rwhp with meth?

I will be moving to a forged setup later but it would be nice to get a motor in the car with a cam and supporting mods for under a grand for the time being.. Instead of 1500$ on an lq4. I will buy a bare 6.0 to build while I play with the setup.

What was your setup? What was power levels? How long did it last? Etc?

Quick Reply: What power are you making with your 5.3, and how much boost did it take?
