best gears for a turbo m6?
#5
yeah its either going to be a 70 mm or a 76mm turbo. the 76 will let me run a few less psi and have the same power. for now it will be a stock bottom end not more then 8-10psi. car is a 2002 camaro ss 6 speed. will be a street warrior with an occasional drag strip venture. havent decided on a boost cam or an ls6 cam yet.....

3.70's with a 28" tire and a 6400 limiter = approx 145 in fourth
figure out how fast you wanna be able to trap in fourth, what size tire your running, and proposed rpm limit and select the gears accordingly

I was going to say this exact same thing. I just figured out how fast I wanted to go, and added 5 to that number, and figured out which gear I needed. And in my case, it was the 3.70 gear.

i would ask what is the car being use for? and what cam ? if its mostly a street car with a large cam then the higher ratios will make it fun to drive, but if its a track car then you differently want the lower ratios

3.55 for sure dont worry about the track stuff. if you want something fast at the track than go auto, but for playing around on the street 3.55 will be great. i had 3.42s when my car was a stick. tons of fun

Surprised this isn't closed yet, but I used 2:73 and the M6. Car had amazing stamina in 3rd and 4th. Still using them with the Th400, car is solid in high gear 😎. This is with 26 inch tires, can't stand 28s on an F body.

Damn that's a high gear, 200 mph in 4th at 6K lol.

Fixed it slightly.... I made the swap from 3.55 to 3.73 and love it. 700rw, 3000lbs raceweight. Car dropped about .12 seconds off the 60' with just the gear change and also does much better on the street when dig racing. I very rarely roll race but I can still drag 4th out to 160 or so.
