SLP 1.85 rockers.
Lately i`ve been hearing alot that aftermarket cams don`t make much of a differance on mild turbo setups like mine. Right now i have a set of 6.0 heads, Cometic gaskets and arp head studs waiting to be installed as soon as i get the money to buy the cam from cammotion. I figured it would be easy to swap the cam while i had the heads off. But now i`m wondering if i would be better off to just get a set of 1.85 rockers to sup up the stock cam a little.
You guys think i should stick with the stock cam with rockers or go with the custom grind cam? Here`s the specs for the custom cam.
Dur. 226/218
Lift. .574/.564
LSA. 116 and a 113 intake centerline.
Thanks.

Get a cam you need to change valvesprings to use the 1.85 SLP rockers,if you've gone to the trouble of changing valvesprings a cam swap is easy. The rockerarms increase the lift and increase ramp speed and will give you about 10hp,while a good cam selection can be worth 50hp or more.

The custom cam would be beneficial. As as said about a good cam might be worth about 40-50hp on a blown motor. The SLP 1.85 rockers are usually good for about 15-20hp on a stock/mildly modified motor.

Tom they made about 10hp on my 5.3 Magnacharger setup the good part is that it wasn't at the expense of low end power. They might make more power in a 5.7 with a larger stock cam.

Don`t increase the ratio of the rockers if you are going to a larger cam. You want to stay away from the added stress it will cause on the valve train. I would not rec. 1.85 on any boosted motor build the lift in the cam. The larger ratios are for those that just want a little extra umph without the expense of a cam.

myturbo, your cam is allready larger than my cam
sure the cam would make more hp at the same boost level on a turbo, because your cylinder pressure went up.. you could do the same by upping the boost a tad.
did the magnachargerabover re-pulley to get the 10hp?
if you dont have springs capable of more lift allready then you'd have to put springs on yea..
i have dabbled at the idea of doing a cam or even the new comp shaft rockers(1.8).. but i keep getting reminded to just add another psi whenever i want more hp.. i am forgetting the beauty of the turbo system.

Uhh I have a bigger cam then you? .
I`ve aread done the comp. 918 swap so the springs will handle a cam or rockers but i`m thinking i`d get more out of the cam. I guess i just figured the cam would be worth another 40-60hp which would make it a worth while purchase. but if it`ll only gain me 10-20hp i`ll spend the money someplace else. Here in florida high boost don`t mix well with florida summers so i`m trying to make as much power as i can with the least amount of boost. Once i get the heads and cometics installed and get my compression down around 9:1, it`ll be about 3months and i`ll be able to get the T76 and i`m gonna tune for 12psi. But thats all the higher i want to go so it`ll still run decent in the heat.

I love my Shaft Mounted Jessel Rockers 1.8's I have the HotCam, which is weak on the lift, but with the 1.8's it's alright. The LSA of 112, is nice and lopey, but bleed out energy, and is not the "perfect" blower cam. But she still pulled 602 RWHP with 11psi of boost.
