Default what's going to break first?

For a street car and using a vortec supercharger what part of the stock engine is going to be the weakest link? Say you are going to try for 425-450 rwhp. The car would be a 2001 TA WS6 6m, the reason I ask is that it seems that it is just a little more complicated than bolting it on and having it tuned. I know that the clutch will be a weak point but I am more concerned with the engine what parts shlould be replaced at the same time w/out tearing down the whole engine. If a couple extra hundred $ is going to save me head achs later that is worth it.

As long as the tune is good, you shouldnt have an issue with the engine. put a set of head gaskets in and tune it right with some head studs, and it should just blow driveline parts.
i tor my 50,000 mile motor with 575rwhp down and it looked mint. nothing wrong with it.
Good luck,

leaning out and blowing a piston. MAYBE lifting a head. probably rods next but unlikely with your HP expectations. the rest of these motors are pretty solid.

the rod bolts will go before the rods, if you go lean thats always a problem.......

A good tune is always a good thing...

As was said before, as long as you have a good tune the stock shortblock will be fine at those power levels. You run into problems when you lean out too much and get detonation. That's when rods get clostrophobic and try to escape the block....and its not a pretty sight when it happens.

Since you have a manual, the first thing you need to take care of is the clutch. the 01+ models have the z06 clutch so it will hold for a little while but it wont hold very long with any abuse. The rear end will probably be the weakest point, especially if you put sticky tires on there (which you will need to if you want traction). if you stay with street tires, the rear end will probably last a little while, but what fun is all that power if you cant plant it to the road?

As a testimony of the strength of the stock ls1, look at what Rob has done with his turbo kit. nearly 800hp and over 800 ftlbs. on a stock 120K+ mile block! Theres no telling exactly how long it will stand up to those forces but just making it through one dyno pull at those levels is amazing.

yhea, hard to go by RR tho, thats all dyno. some street. but it is a good base, and many others have beat the hell out of stock blocks from 300-600+ rwhp.
that will be the least of your problems.
