Default keep 370 OR just build the 408

Got my lq4 block ready to get machined. I am building a turbo motor and am leaning toward the pt88 turbo. Should I keep the 370 cubes or just go the 408 route? Any Suggestions?

My vote goes to just staying with the 370.

370 as well. I'm worried how many rpm's my pt88 will hold me to with my 402 when it's ready to get put together, due to back pressure. If you go with a 408 and wanna spin it high, go with a 91 or an 88 with a t6. It would be cheaper with the 370 as well since you can use your stock crank.

What are the benifts going back down? I love all the power/tq before the turbo spools with my 404.

Can I ask why a 370 is better then a 408? I'm going to assume that you can spin a 370 much higher then a 408? I thought the turbo would do better with more cubes.

Stronger pistons for one...... and you better have a lot of room available to fit a system big enough to keep 400+cid happy and not choked

You summed it up for me. My 408 with the pt88, I could never make it work on the street how I wanted, it would spin bad then when it finally hooked I had to shift anyway cause it starts to hit a wall from back pressure.

Now it dead hooks and stays hooked, doesn't just blow the tires off and I'm talking about stock rims with just some 26 inch 275/40/17 nitto 555r. An it pulls hard to 7000 rpms. I don't have to worry about the back pressure as much and my egt going through the roof.

I want a pt88 for my 370 I just have a tc78.

Go 370 with the 88 it's enough power to go into the 8's with the proper set up.

Jose strongly recommended that I stay away from the pt88 (which is what I originally planned). He said that I would see insane back pressure with it like your saying. i haven't had a chance to really turn up the 91 yet but paired with the eboost2 I don't see why you cant make a 400+88-91mm setup killer on the street.

Also where were you monitoring your egts from?

Where do you get this information backing that statement about piston strength?
