Default Too much boost....she is smoking bad!

Rut Rooo..... lots of oil smoke from #7 hole (see plug).... but zero blow-by coming from my evac breather. The motor has about 10k miles on it and it has been flawless till now. This plug has approx 500 miles on it.. The #5 plug looked perfect. I'm guessing too much boost and it broke the second ring in #7.... motor has to come out no matter a ring or a land. Anyone have a killer shortblock available?

That was in a forged 370 right? How much boost were you running?

tracy- Friggin hate to hear about your troubles but I do have parts for sale. I have my zero run-time 408 (LQ9 based) in either shortblock, longblock or longblock with sheetmetal intake that will fit under your stock hood with a 90mm TB. PM me if you're interested. I'm not home to crate/ship it but the shortblock is at a shop in Oklahoma City if you want to work out picking it up? the TFS 245s (6-bolt) are at ERL.

Sorry to hear this Tracy. You should take it apart and see what's going on first. May be a simple/cheap fix. Did you do a compression or blowby test on it yet?

hey frank, I really think (or hope) it will be a second ring or something minor because there is no smoke/blowby coming from my evac system... it still runs like a bat out of hell (smokey hell that is). Because this is my daily driver, i just pulled the trigger on a nice used iron 408 shortblock that was listed on here a couple days ago (1BADA3Z, nice guy). This will get me running temporarily (without all of the smoke, lol) and then i can decide which direction i want to go... LSX or ERL or ?... BTW, i installed those .68 T4 exhaust housings and it spools much quick than the divided 1.0's. Thanks for your offer!

no but i think i will be ok unless i try to max them out. I bought them from the pinto guy on yellow bullet. He made over 1200rwhp with the .68's and the same turbos we have.....at 19 pounds of boost on a 408". He ended up going with the .82 housings because he is shooting for the 7's in the 1/4.
