Default 78 vs. 90 vs. 102. vs 4150

so im about to do an intake swap on my truck. right now it has the bone stock truck intake with stock 78mm TB. its a stock 5.3 with stock heads and 225 581 cam. it already made close to 800WHP on a mustang dyno with alot of boost FWIW.

but my question is if there is gains to be had with a larger TB or if i can get the same power if i just run more boost?

thanks for any help!

i'd wait til you build a motor, upgrade the turbo, and im guessing you have 3" IC piping, upgrade that to 3.5 or even 4" depending on your planned power level. i doubt there will be much of gain otherwise, and you're walking a pretty fine line with the stock 5.3...

awesome power, btw. good luck.

i have twin 70s, and its 2.5" from each turbo into the IC (A2W) then 4" from IC to TB

that power is through a stick? What is your goal power wise?

I say LS6 intake with a ported factory TB...that combo has seen plenty of 8's.

No, I have a 4l80 with about a 3400 10.5" stall.

I'm leaning towards the proflo with my 78mm TB.

As far as goals go, idk really... I've never gotten a clean pass out of the truck yet but as it sits now it could probably go 10.5 or so. I'd like to think it has a 9 in it somewhere but obviously that'll take some work. It's not easy to make a daily driver extended cab truck go fast! Haha

you're running a 4", might as well run the biggest TB possible.

pro-flo is a nice unit and you will need a larger tb...I think that will look badass on a truck.

Here's a picture of my friend Jeremy's PT94 build in his Silverado with a ProFlo XT and a FAST 92mm TB. Any 90 or 92mm should work with it.

I'm running a stock ported TB on my Proflo. Seems to be making decent power. 3" charge pipe.
