Question Aps install

Outta curiosity, I'm thinking about buying a BNIB APS TT extreme kit for what I consider to be a very good deal. With the job I have I have very little time to enjoy my car let alone work on it. So with that being said I've been thinking that if do buy this kit I would like to have a reputable garage do the install and tune for me. I will already have everything bought from fuel pumps to gauges to bmr kmember. Im wondering what do you guys think an install like this would cost.

lol like alot I think. There is quite a bit of man hours that have to go in to it. And a little bit of fabrication too. Look on APS's website, and it gives you the install instructions. You have to cut some places, drill and tap the oil pan, etc. It was really fun to do it myself. Wouldnt have traded it for anything. But to each his own.

Ok. I went over the instructions, not that anything seemed outta my league. It was really just how much time is involved with the install. I really don't want to spend half the summer putting this thing together when I can pay someone to do it. I figure $3000 for install and $500 for dyno tune. While your speaking of time, how long did your install take?

I would have someone local to you help out with it.. your talking $3500.. that's rediculous.. seen as you don't get to enjoy your car that much whats the rush to waste $3500 to have it sit? It could take you like 2 weekends taking it at a moderate pace if you had someone familiar with turbo installs to help. If your going to give $3500 away I can send you my paypal address lol.

I installed mine working evenings in my garage after work and weekends (skipped a day or two in there to give myself a break). But I got it done in 2.5 weeks. Then 0.5 week for the exhaust & tune. So total down time for my car was 3 weeks. I too had parts ready & waiting to go on the car so no part delays. If you can do it, I say do it! It was a lot of work but you can say you did it yourself. Good luck.

I really can't tell you how long mine took. When I did the install on mine, I also did the 370ci install, and a complete fuel system build all at the same time. But HuggerZ's estimate sounds pretty accurate though.

shipping the car to and from would be cheaper than a 3000+ dollar install..

The time thing is my main issue. I was thinking this thing would take longer than a couple of weeks to install. Thanks for your info on how long your install took, greatly appreciated!

I thought you listed your kit at $10K for just the kit. What do you offer for $8200 installed?

its A2A vs A2W, which is along the same lines of an APS kit but made in america, and you get alot more for your $$

^^^^
what he said

At the request of the community we made a slightly less expensive Air to Air version of the kit.

Right now we are offering free install for anyone that purchases one of our systems.

I think going with modular kit might be way to go. The aps is pretty good aside from the knock off standard turbo issue don't think as many problems with the extreme turbos.
Aps has other things ,it can run pretty hot with air on, you do have to space out the front sway bar ,you have to stent the intlet tubes, you have to still buy a bmr or similar kmember to install the aps kit. And think you need different starter on the extreme kit or maybe it comes with it but pretty sure you need different starter.

The aps does involve a lot of cutting and modding on the car. Nothing too crazy but still quite a bit of work and extensive install would put it at 100 hours or so easily. I did mine over a few weeks with help, pretty skilled help. The modular kit does sound better in several areas so you might want to go that route its up to you. I am pretty happy with my aps kit but their after sales service is pretty much zero. They didn't handle the knock off turbo issue well at all never did say anything to refute it or apologize or anything.I do think that if need any part for my aps would have to buy a complete kit. The turbos are not the best they are ok but your options is pretty limited. The LG were not cheap either but didn't trust the standard ones, fact one was shipping with internal crack that leaked coolant into my new 408 .Lucky was on top of it and ran that turbo oil cooled only after that since really didn't want to get another one from aps since figured they would be knock off anyway.
I did get some from ebay and hugger is using those I think now still?
I do like my aps kit when its working right it was awesome ,power was crazy and it spooled up if anything too low down with the bigger 408.
Down the road I might consider going to different system maybe modular one if any critical parts of the aps break and cant replace them like exhaust manifolds, exhaust housings. Most of the rest of the kit is stainless and pretty nice, intercooler is air to air but is a big thing and did upgrade to Ron Davis rad. Not a huge fan of water to air intercoolers ,pros and cons to everything I guess.

Best of luck with whatever way you go.
