Default Dinged Turbo

This turbo was dinged in shipping. Would you recommend replacing or sanding out the damage?

It's junk, send it to me

I would be comfortable draw-filing it with an ultra-fine file, followed up by using a stone to level it out (flat stone like a knife sharpening stone) I don't see that affecting performance.

I should rephrase the question...

Can the ding be repaired or would it be better to replace the housing?

Thanks for the insight 67RS, I was thinking along similar lines.

Haha then I'm going to rephrase. With the money you spend on a turbo there should be absolutely no problems out of the box. There should be no dings, or any imperfections that should have to be fixed.

Do yourself a favor and send it back.

Its likely that you could put the compressor housing on and never know that there is a ding there.

Why is everyone on here so stingy?

i think the second you run that thing and put wear on it you lose your chance to send it back. then the company will say its not on them. i'd send it back even if it meant my car being down for a while.

^this.

I don't get why people spend the money they spend on these parts and not demand perfection. The time he may waste trying to fix that and go back and fourth with it will probably take longer than him actually getting a new non damaged piece.

i appreciate everyones "get what you paid for" concerns. I have not stated who shipped them, their worth, or the circumstance upon which they came into my possesion. The question at hand is if the housing is repairable or does it need to be replaced? If you don't know or can't contribute, kindly move along.

As long as there is no interference with the wheel and the compressor housing fits and seals correctly, I honestly don't see the problem. It doesn't look like the wheel is damaged, but there is no way of verifying that without holding the part myself.

It's fine, file it flat and make sure it's not pinching the oring any and you will have no problem with it what so ever.
