This is the proper wat to t in a vaccum line for the bov. It should hold pressure while in boost and then allow the bov to open when throttle is closed suddenly. I know mine is a vortech but I was told by them it should hold 15in of vaccum while un attached to the system. Mine made 415/392 with 6.5lbs @6k rpm in 95 deg heat with an a4. Im not sure yours was really seeing that much boost with or without loose couplings or missing parts or whatever, im my mind 8lbs in the mani is 8lbs no matter what..... Maybe I m wrong?????

So it turns out that the surge valve was in the wrong direction, the kit was used and the inlet hat an surge valve came assembled from the original owner and it didn't cross my mind he might of had it in the wrong orientation.. So should I get the tuner to double check the tune before I get my gas pedal stomping shoes out.

I'd take it somewhere else and have the tune looked at. Bob

Agreed. If they didnt even notice that the bypass was bass ackwards, I wonder if they knew it was an LS1 engine under the hood If the bypass valve was backwards the only real problem I see is when it is idling the recirculation would not work and the sudden slaming of the tb when done runnin the **** outta it should have caused surge issues in the blower. I would bet your idling part of the tune is outta wack, no???

Is there a direction arrow on the surge valve?

Not on mine, but pressurized air from blower comes in 180 degrees from where small vac tube attaches and exit 90 degrees from either of the previous two mentioned. Make sense? No, well.....

The idle would go lean as soon as I hooked up the surge valve because the vacuum must of been opening the valve I.e if I blew on the vacuum line it held pressure but if I sucked on it it would not, after reversing the surge valve I can't suck on it cus it's actually sealing like its supposed to.. I don't blame the tuner for this particular issue..but I'll have to see him again to check the tune.. I do wish we waited on tuning until I had the issues sorted out with the car

Always make sure that your car is operating 100% before bringing it for a tune.

I agree, But at the same time there is a good probabilty that the vehicle will

run into something either major or minor, which is expected when working on

cars

Look at the fins on the inlet side and make sure they have small equal gaps in them. Is the blower still slipping or do you know for sure?

yeah but that's what a tune is sometimes for..alot of times there's no way to know you are having belt slip issues or running too lean or rich or have timing issues...those tuners know alot more about whats on that laptop than i do..it's considered common to keep taking a car back to get tuned adter finding new issues and fixing them

i'ma give you one potential problem i ran into with my P1SC...the belt tensioner/idler pulley had bad bearings...it would luck up and unlock by itself...and each time it locked up the belt actually would eat down into the pulley just a lil...but i was seeing nearly no boost when it was like that..i fixed it all of course...also..pressure check the entire piping system..as well as check to make sure your intake is in good shape and is bolted down 100%...it was another issue i had when i switched over to a BBK intake.(POS if i ever did see one) i switched over to the LS6 intake and i had no more boost leak

Quick Reply: 8 psi made only ~410 rwhp ????
