Default Magnacharger MP112 + low mile LS2... What heads?

I've got a Magnacharger MP112 and after debating LQs I picked up a shortblock low mileage LS2. Now I'm trying to figure out which heads to go with...

Should I get 317s and work them? If so, what should I do (just port, mill down, replace valves, etc...)? Is there other options you guys would recommend?

I've got a set of ported 853s but I don't think they'll work for the LS2... will they? I basically need a head that will work on the LS2 bore but also have cathedral ports for the maggie... and I've heard different things about them liking higher compression not lower like centrifugals and turbos.

As for a cam, I'll get something custom spec'd out to make the most of the combo...

Any thoughts appreciated

Id say 243s Mark, the 317s will work if you mill them down a lot. The MP112 is not a high boost blower at all so you dont need lower compression. Contact a few of the sponsors and see what they say

The MP112s seem to run out of steam around 500-525 rwhp from what I've seen, should be able get there with some stock heads and a well spec'ed cam I'd imagine.

I agree with hitman on that a 243 or even some aftermarket ones will work, no need to lower compression since that blower doesn't make very high boost maxxed out at about 10-12 psi. I think if you run 8psi with a cam and some worked 243's you could make some really great numbers and torque and be very reliable.

I agree, I would get some 243s and keep the compression up there. Also do not put a large cam in it!!!!

Agree on the 243 heads. You don't need to lower the c/r at any power level the MP112 can support. For a budget cam, find you a used LS7 cam. Lift will be around .550 with 1.7 rocker arms. No need for high dollar springs. They sell for 50 to 75 bucks and will be a great compliment to the MP112 on a 6.0L. You can run a much bigger cam, but all it will do is make more noise.

Split duration cam, 243 heads or even an as cast aftermarket aluminum casting would do nicely. I'd shoot for around 10.2:1-10.5:1 compression and 22x/23x 114lsa cam would do nicely.

SO, thanks for all the input but I'm not sure I understand why a stock 243 would be better than running the well ported 853s I already have... Because of the valves? Is there something I am missing? Input appreciated.

Stock 243's are worth on average 15-20 rwhp over any stock casting ls1 head. They also can be ported to flow way better then an stock casting ls1 head. The valves are the same size the 243's can just flow alot more and are a better head Thats all.

So, I've got a set of ported 853s and a set of stock 317s. Local consensus says to use the 317s...

As is. The LS2 is 10.9 stock, the 317s should lower it to 10.3 or 10.4. Its a safer ratio but wont ruin the 112s power.

Stock cc317s with zr1 gaskets(.051) will put you around 10.1 i believe.
