Default 02' Pewter Z-28 Get a Custom F1-A Kit Thrown in

llo everyone !!!

So Question.. Wanna go boost?
Why buy a $6,500+ kit, when you can go with a Custom Make Kit, a larger blower, and still be cheaper in the end with more power potential... Pewter did !

Re-Cap...

Car currently has 455 RWHP and 400 RWTQ, has not had a single issue since install was complete 18 months ago.
Stock Bottom End
Ported 5.3l heads
AIR EMAX CAM
AIR PORTED FAST 90 mm intake
& Other Blot on's

Starting Yesterday. New mod... ATI Procharger F1-A Shooting for 8psi
Custom Front mount intercooler and Piping

Went with a F1 so we have room to grow for the future.

As we have progress, more pics to follow...

Here's the engine shot before work was started.

Starting the process...

__________________________________________________ _________
UPDATE 6-26-11....................
CAR IS FINISHED...

Pewter Car is finished.. The piping and the entire kit came out wonderful !!!

Here is truely a custom kit, every attention to detail has been done..

Again the kit is a F1-A Procharger.. The only think that were using from Procharger itself if is the head unit, The bracket, the 90 deg Inlet hat. Everything else is custom.

The Kit is

Procharger F1-A
GodSpeed 900 HP Rated Single In, Dual out Front mount Intercooler
3.5" Single outlet from blower to intercooler.
Dual 2.5" Outlet from intercooler to the custom Ram piping before the MAF.
Tial Blow Off Valve
85lb Injectors
Custom Twin Walbro 255l per hour Pumps.
Micro Switch secondary pump activation at WOT only.

Were seeing 10psi at 5500 rpms from this kit, a little more than what we anticipated. were going to be careful when we go full rpms, but the car might see upwards of 650 to 700 RWHP on stock bottom end.

Here are the photos from the Mid Point to the completed project.

Looks good. I'm just curious why you split the intake pipes?

Because. Something different. Everyone has a single inlet from the intercooler. This one looks very different and that's what we were shooting for

Is that a 6-rib pulley on the blower? Is so, I'd start planning to change the bracket to a setup with an adjustable spring loaded tensioner and a 8-rib upgrade.

Also, get the truck inlet hat as well. It supposedly is worth a good bit of power in a D1 setup and I can't imagine how much more power in a F1.

definately different. I wouldve went different but hey to each their own. and get the truck inlet as mentioned above cause it isnt gonna make any kind of power with the current one, also I dont see any meth injection mentioned either so hate to burst your bubble of 650-700 on stock bottom end but it aint happening with the current setup. Did you keep the 5.3s? If so itll be a matter of time posting about a blown bottom end now what to do.

No 6 Rib. LOL...

Curious on that Asters spring loaded bracket... Anyone have a link ? I remember the SDCE tension from year back...

Also the Truck inlet increasing airflow, yea thats the least of our problems right now on the stock bottom end and 11 to 1 compression already on the motor. We shall see what she puts down on the dyno, then probably back off on the boost and put our stamp on it.

Was a very fun build !

Technically it's $715 for the bracket, pulleys, tensioner, and water pump.

The aster bracket is great. I am using it on my 402 and looking to put 12 - 18 pounds of boost. The quality and customer service is second to none.

I would highly suggest getting the aster bracket sooner then later. As said above, the quality, design and support that comes with it is bar none. Chris and I have spoken a couple times. If the belt stretches this much with a spring tensioner, it must stretch a decent amount with a manual as well. The key point is with the spring tensioner, it takes the slack out.

Didn't see it but are you guys planning on running methanol? If not I hope you HIGHLY consider running it...it might keep the motor alive for a bit. Also not sure if you posed it but what fuel are you planning on running it on? Deff different but cool!

That's cool to see. Makes me confident that I made the right decision going with Aster's bracket up front.

I've seen those type of tensioners in action.. Very cool...

If we get a little slip I welcome it above 5k rpms as were seeing some good amount of boost now. Once we step up to a lower compression 347 or 383, we shall get a bracket like this installed and up the boost as well..

Dyno later on this week, I'll keep everyone posted.

How many lbs on you going to run on it? And did you ever get a chance to make it to the dyno or dyno tuned?

It is good to see Colorado is becoming such a power house in the LSX community!

^^^ Good to see you are still out there ! Hope your Well.. I remember working on your car a little, or at least moving it in and out of the shop 2+ years ago. Hope it's doing great..

PewterZ's car is running strong after doing some adjusting of the tune. Were seeing 11+psi at 6500 rpms.. Dyno is set for Friday. Should put down some good numbers, she feels strong. IAT's are only going 30 Deg above Ambient from a 0-100mph pull.. This was done in "mexico" of course.
