In that hot rod magizine on the 4.8 they used a rds block and billet crank ported heads camshaft ported heads main studs rod bolts etc.. No where near stock..

If i remember correctly the motor was a stock shortblock but they filed the ring gaps did a full port and polish job then ran race fuel 118... they said they could have got more power out of it but the ran our of spark at 26 or 27 psi. but by that point they were making well over 1100 hp.. they said the 4.8s have flattops stock,
